The Behr Paint Co. Distribution Automation Operator's primary responsibility is to monitor various automation system computers to ensure that systems are automatically operating within specified parameters. When systems are not correctly operating the Automation Operator must take a specific documented course of action to resolve equipment's error. The Automation Operator should also monitor equipment's productivity for their shift.
The Automation Operator will also collaborate with vendor and maintenance to make sure that PMs are done, and the any repairs are reported and repaired in a timely manner. The Automation Operator will also work with IT on any connectivity or SAP issues. Additional requirements and responsibilities are as described (but not limited to) in the following sections:
Knowledge/Experience/Skills
First responder to any interruption to the automation productivity
Knowledge of basic equipment interfaces.
Capable of operating automation
Basic troubleshooting skill
Ability to assess and get the right support when multiple alarm situations arise.
Ability to complete shift report, communicate machine issues to maintenance and supervision.
Basic SAP transaction and Microsoft Window knowledge
Duties and Responsibilities
Training
The Automation Operator will be responsible for training any new employee who is selected to work with the automation and to monitor their work to ensure all safety and operational procedures are followed.
First Responder
Occasionally equipment and systems trip offline or will go into an error status. The Automation Operator is expected to engage and to quickly returned failed systems to service.
Work Order System
The Automation Operator is required to enter work orders related to system problems directly into the vendors portal and through Behr's maintenance program. Familiarity with the equipment and systems allow for the work orders to be entered properly with the necessary details being included assisting the technician working on the problem.
Logout / Tagout Logbook (Where maintained at console)
The Automation Operators are responsible for logging collecting all lockout/tagout information as required and maintain the log/out tagout book per the Lockout/Tagout SOPs.
Logbook
The Automation Operator is required to maintain a logbook detailing all alarms and critical activities that occurred on his/her shift. This logbook will be electronic and in a shared location.
