Position Overview
The Warehouse Technician is responsible for a vital part in the supply chain process to ensure goods are received and dispatched appropriately and productivity targets are met. Warehouse Technician is also responsible for workplace health and safety standards and for the security of the building and the stock. Qualified candidates must have experience with mobile devices for electronic entry of inventory items, ability to manage in fast paced high volume environment and quickly redirect staff as needed in emergency situations. Candidate will be responsible for the distribution of materials, equipment, and supplies by maintaining the appropriate levels of stock using BELFOR standard guidelines.
Job Duties
- Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations
- Coordinate the use of automated and computerized systems where necessary
- Completes warehouse operational requirements
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Warehouse organization to access tools and material for emergency response and maintain records of contents storage
- Maintain all equipment including water damage equipment (Dehumidifiers, Air Movers, Air Filtration devices), small gas engines, small power tools, and filter changes.
- Maintain an inventory of consumable items in the warehouse for disaster response. Inventory consists of small tools, water damage chemicals, containment supplies, safety supplies, filers, board up supplies, roof tarps, and other misc supplies.
- Establish relationships with existing and new vendors for tool repair, vehicle repair, equipment rental, labor vendors, and other vendors that become useful in our line of work.
- Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
- Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.
- Have a clear understanding of the company's policies and vision and how the warehouse contributes to these
- Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
- Maintain standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment.
- Comply with company and department policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
Qualifications
- MECHANICAL EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS
- Ability to work well with others, maintain professional interaction with co-workers and vendors.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the legal requirements of operating a warehouse
- Planning and organizing skills
- Must be analytical, and take initiative as necessary
- Technical and IT skills, particularly when it comes to database management and spreadsheets
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to work on a tactical and strategic level
- The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting over 50 lbs unassisted
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Manual dexterity needed for keyboarding and other repetitive tasks
- The ability to bend, crouch, or stand as necessary.
