Manages, coordinates, performs or assists in performing activities related to tax compliance, provision and planning for the retail organization. Tax compliance responsibilities include all activities required to be performed in connection with the preparation, review and filing of tax returns and the ultimate acceptance of those returns by the taxing authorities. Tax provision consists of all activities required to be performed in connection with the preparation, review and inclusion in the financial statements of the company’s provision of income taxes under ASC-740. Tax planning relates to proposing to achieve the best tax results with respect to possible and/or anticipated transactions and the environment within which they happen. Responsibilities includes identification and implementation of solutions that reduce cost and/or time and increase accuracy.


•    Manages and/or performs the preparation of the quarterly and annual income tax provision and true-up under ASC-740 and SOX 404, which includes working with other Finance professionals and outside auditor
•    Manages and/or performs the preparation, review and filing of federal and state income and franchise tax returns, estimated tax payments, extensions and refund claims
•    Formulate solutions that reduce cost and/or time and increase accuracy
•    Study existing tax entity structures, policies, operations, procedures and business practices, and recommends changes that would reduce tax costs
•    Review specific proposed business transactions and recommend alternatives that would achieve best tax results
•    Lead, manage and develop tax analysts
•    Review reconciliations and analysis prepared by tax analysts
•    Continually updates current and long-term tax forecasts used in Finance forecasts 
•    Assist the Director, Financial Reporting and Tax with tax audit management.  Coordinate responses to notices and processing of refund checks from taxing authorities 
•    Effectively communicate and work with other professionals both in and outside the department and company
•    Follow any job-related instructions requested by supervisor or management

Education & Experience:
•    At least 5 years tax compliance/accounting/planning experience required, preferably in retail and/or at a Big 4 accounting firm
•    CPA or equivalent degree in tax, or law degree with emphasis in tax
•    Maturity and judgment
•    Ability to interact with top management
