What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Assistant position at Belknap County?
The Belknap County Nursing Home, is seeking a highly motivated, experienced individual to work in a team environment to assist in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the Nursing Home in good repair. Responsible for minor electrical work, mechanical repairs and other duties relating to maintenance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:*
Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems as required.
Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and systems as required.
Performs preventative maintenance duties to all physical structures of the nursing home and complies with all building safety codes. This includes facility equipment and associate’s controls.
Assists in maintaining electrical wiring and emergency generator systems.
Assists in replacing, installing, repairing, and testing electrical circuits, equipment, appliances, and lighting systems as required.
Performs manual duties as required (i.e., moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material, shovel, and snow blow, etc.)
Works day, evening, or night shift as assigned, is on-call for emergencies and on weekly rotation as assigned, including holidays.
Repairs to doors and locks. Repairs broken windows.
Constructs and repairs tables, chairs, benches, and other wooden equipment.
Performs routine maintenance to vehicles and lawn mowing equipment.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Covers for Maintenance Supervisor in his/her absence.
Performs other related duties as required.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED:
Duties require completion of a high school diploma and must hold a current light commercial license.
Must have mechanical ability, general knowledge of tools, equipment and of one or more of the building trades.
Skilled in the use of specialized tools and equipment.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
May supervise House of Correction personnel assigned to the Maintenance Department. Abides by the Nursing Home rules as well as the Corrections rules and regulations.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position may be exposed to indoor and outdoor environments, and may subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, bloodborne pathogens, and physical, chemical, and respiratory hazards.
Balancing, crouching, grasping, pulling, reaching, repetitive movements and stooping are required. Required to occasionally lift 100 pounds or more.
