About the Position:
The Educator at Belle Meade Historic Site and Winery plays a pivotal role at the intersection of
education, public history, and hospitality. Educators are tasked with delivering exceptional programs for
audiences of all ages, utilizing various teaching techniques. Additionally, the Educator conducts tours and
interactive sessions tailored to diverse groups, ranging from toddlers to seniors.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Conducts captivating and informative site tours for families and children, presenting accurate
information in line with program themes.
- Orchestrates and leads a diverse range of hands-on activities and crafts, enhancing participant
engagement and enjoyment.
- Engages in collaborative planning and execution of monthly sessions for the Homeschool History
Club, with potential involvement in future developments.
- Plays a crucial role in the successful implementation of the Junior Docent Volunteer Program.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of diverse learning styles and developmental stages,
catering to various age groups and abilities.
- Embraces a customer-centric approach, ensuring positive and tailored interactions with all
guests.
- Prioritizes guest safety and professionalism while addressing visitor needs, adhering to
institutional guidelines.
- Actively participates in training programs and staff meetings to deepen understanding of the site
and stay updated on educational theories.
- Ensures cleanliness and organization of education program materials after each tour.
- Assists with the cleaning and resetting of Adventure Backpacks.
- Fulfills additional duties as assigned by management.

- Must be able to assimilate information and impart it in a factual, coherent, and engaging
manner.
Education and Experience
- Public speaking or teaching experience with an interest in history is ideal.
- Academic or work experience in education, history, or related fields preferred.
- Classroom or museum teaching experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience with children or families is preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Works in a variety of settings including administrative, mansion, classroom, and outdoors.
- Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to transverse the property, including going upstairs and across pea gravel paths and/or
grass, as well as concrete sidewalks.
- Conducts programming in a range of environments, including hot temperatures and cold
weather.
- Must be available as scheduled, including weekends, with some evenings and holidays
Compensation rate: $17.00 an hour
