We are seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our team! You will assist in the daily care of elderly or disabled individuals.
Direct Support Professionals is a person who assists an individual with a disability to lead a self-directed life and contribute to the community, assists with activities of daily living if needed, and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion. A DSP may provide supports to a person with a disability at home, work, school, church, and other community places. A DSP also acts as an advocate for the disabled individual, in communicating their needs, self-expression and goals, gets involved in assisting individual's during a day program in accordance with an established treatment plan. Program emphasizes community integration through daily recreational and work-site outings.
Responsibilities:
Assist clients with daily living activities
Communicate ongoing care results and updates to relevant parties
Collaborate with clients and families for best care opportunities
Maintain a healthy and comfortable living environment
Ensure health, safety & welfare of individuals.
Implement and adhere to established treatment plans
Required to report to alternate work locations, when necessary (e.g. Hospital, Dr.’s Office etc.)
Must be able to transport residents in agency vehicles as needed
Able to maintain student/individual /family confidentiality
Qualifications:
Proof of vaccination
Previous experience in personal care or other related fields
Compassionate and caring demeanor
Ability to build rapport with clients
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must have High School or equivalent degree.
Prefer First Aid, CPR, AMAP and SCIP certifications or Aptitude upon hire.
Ability to safely assist lifting individuals of various weights & 20lb items.
Demonstrates organizational, written and verbal skills.
Must be at least 18 or older.
