JOB DESCRIPTION:

Position Summary:
Manage projects throughout all stages of the Global Change Management (GCM) and project processes, according to the guidelines, for medium, local or regional and/or B – categorized projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Assess, plan and manage the implementation of more complex product changes / projects from Initiation through Plant Production Launch, including coordination of the required cross-functional personnel and activities.
  • Drive and provide strong direction, decisions and actions, including adjustments to product changes / project to ensure successful completion in meeting cost, customer, quality, and timing commitments and requirements.
  • Ensure adequate and appropriate resources are assigned to product changes / projects. Motivate others through positive interactions.
  • Communicate product change / project progress and facilitate issue resolution, internally with Corporate and Plant functions, and with external customers. Conduct management updates.
  • Contribute to and help lead resolution or escalation of critical issues during the product change / project.
  • Develop customer-specific price quotations on new work and collect information for proper quotations from other functions as appropriate.
  • Help lead financial and other analysis for new opportunities based on product line and customer strategies.
  • Develop cost estimates on product changes and projects, which may include Supplier / Plant tooling, equipment, testing equipment, and packaging.
  • Initiate formal funding requests as required by internal policies and guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and reporting product change / project expenses to Management.
  • Manage Customer Engineering Notification/Change Management Process, Customer Specific Requirements, and Internal Audits per QS/ISO Standards.
  • Use internal computer systems (Team Center, SAP) to input, track and complete product change and project requests and tasks.
  • Perform Key User activities for GCM system, including submitting IT change proposals for enhancements, training and performing testing during upgrades.
  • Share and explain the metrics, progress, status and issues of product changes / projects to responsible / affected product groups, plants and central functions.
  • Lead GCM and other process improvement activities.

Knowledge:

  • Solid knowledge of business and management processes needed for successful product change and project completion.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of project management techniques and best practices.
  • Familiar with industry standards as well as internal Bendix standards.
  • Knowledge to carry out a process or procedure based on deadlines.
  • Knowledgeable with risk/opportunity factors and can act accordingly.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years’ experience in engineering, manufacturing or supply chain project management, with 3-4 years being a functional representative/lead.
  • Experience in an automotive or transportation environment preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, capable of formal and informal discussions with a professional presence.
  • Ability to think and act in a structured way. Strong organizational and planning skills to divide time between specific activities.
  • Perform effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong sense of urgency, perseverance, and the creativity to overcome obstacles
  • Great problem-solving skills. Detail oriented.
  • Focused on driving results and reaching goals, including working to tight deadlines regardless of possible setbacks and stress.
  • Strong knowledge about Project Management procedures, methods, and tools
  • Very proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Word etc).
  • Strong presentation skills.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or Business required, Master’s degree in related profession a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent preferred.
