What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fulfillment Packer I position at BendPak?

SUMMARY:

As a Fulfillment Packer I your position will include packing by hand a wide variety of products and materials. You will need to pack the items provided by our pickers in a timely and accurate manner. You will need to learn our parts to make sure that each package contains the correct parts and quantities. Motivated to complete any task given to you. Remember every package that is sent out of our facility is a representation of our company and therefore must be packed with care and you must ensure what is on the packing list is what is contained in the box.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Pull completed tote cart from the staging area to your workstation. Work tote to tote until the cart is complete, do not leave unfinished carts to start other tasks.

· Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards and make sure they match the item description that is called out on the RF gun.

· Immediately notify supervisor of any deviations from specification or any incorrect product.

· Find the appropriate size box for the item(s) on the current order you are working. Fold the box open and secure the bottom of the box using one stripe of water activated tape long enough to cover the length of the package plus 3” up each side of the package.

· Place item(s) in the prepared box making sure the item(s) are secured with sufficient packing material as to prevent damage while the item(s) are in transit.

· Review packing lists to insure the correct items and quantities are in the package.

· Securely close each package using one stripe of water activated tape long enough to cover the length of the package plus 3” down each side of the package.

· Items larger than the boxes available will have to be secured using cardboard and then plastic wrap.

· Once package is securely closed attach the packing list and place on the conveyor going to the processor.

  • Ship packaged product both domestically and internationally using CSD, TWL and Pacejet.
  • Create shipping labels and apply them to the packaged product.
  • Once the package is properly labeled place it on a 48’ x 48’ skid.
  • One hour before end of shift, take all skids with labeled product and load them on the carriers trailer’s.

· Maintain a safe, organized and clean work area at all times. Make sure work station isle are kept clear at all times.

· Keep accurate inventory on a shipping supplies and inform the supervisor when it is time to order more material.

· Participate in and complete all required training.

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS AND TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

· Minimum High school diploma or equivalent required

· 1-2 years proven work experience as a packer in a warehouse environment.

· Computer literate and be able to use MS Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook and general internet use.

· Experienced with use of a handheld scan gun.

· Forklift experience is preferred, but not required.

· Ability to apply Instructions from supervisor, and be a positive team-player.

· Be able to minimize talking, any communications that do occur will be work related.

· Be able and willing to comply with all company policies and procedures, including all safety regulations.

· Ability to manage multiple tasks.

· Attention to detail.

· Punctual and reliable individual with a great attendance record

· Flexible in fast-paced environment

  • Work independently on repetitive tasks and assist others.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and crouching all day.

· This position inside a warehouse and in an environment typical of a distribution operation.

· Exposure to dust and noise; some heavy lifting, standing, climbing; you may work at heights; and work in inclement weather conditions.

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

· Ability to stand or walk for extended periods of time; ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and lift or move heavy equipment.

· Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.

· Walking, standing, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, etc. is required.

· Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· Work safely under functional guidelines such as PPE and equipment operation

· May be exposed to variable noise levels, fumes, hazardous chemicals, or airborne particles.

  • PPE requirements: Steel-toed shoes and safety glasses are required when on the warehouse floor as a minimum. Other PPE may be required depending on the area and specific functional needs.
  • The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
  • The candidate is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, touch, see, and hear.
  • Must be able to bend and push/pull heavy pallets.
  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.
  • Feeling: Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at the knee to come to rest on the knee or knees.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  • Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes. The worker is required to have visual acuity to safely operate heavy equipment and operate forklifts.
