SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Plans, organizes, manages and administers on and off-center recreational activities for students.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Oversees the supervision of students engaged in center-sponsored recreational activities on and off center.
•Provides supervision, training, and assessment for assigned recreation staff.
•Plans, implements and evaluates all recreational programs and makes recommendations for change.
•Prepares schedules and calendars for all recreational activities. Coordinates student field trips.
•Creates a supportive work environment; recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance goals.
•Tracks and records program attendance.
•Orders and maintains recreational equipment, supplies and materials.
•Prepares and controls the departmental budget.
•Designs, develops and implements an active system of communicating upcoming recreation events to students, staff and the community.
•Implements an active system for obtaining student feedback and statements of interest.
•Promotes student and staff participation and interest in recreation activities.
•Recognizes and reinforces students' positive behavior.
•Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
•Demonstrated hands-on management style and organization skills
•Proven ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate recreation programs
•Proven ability to build partnerships and secure resources that benefit program objective
•Excellent leadership and coaching skills; excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
•Extensive knowledge of operational practices and principles of recreation/avocation programs
•Proficient in rules and regulations of common sports and games
•Knowledge of fitness, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle practices
•Proficient in the use of computer software such as MSWord, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelors Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field. A combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
EXPERIENCE:
•Two years of recreation experience; one of which was in a supervisory capacity.
OTHER:
•Must possess a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
•Must possess or obtain valid commercial Driver's License Class B with passenger endorsement within three months of hire. Water Safety Certification.
