Construction Site Superintendent

Growing West Palm Beach construction company is seeking an experienced Construction Site Superintendent to oversee local commercial projects.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Senior Project Manager, the Construction Site Superintendent is responsible for managing and executing all daily onsite construction activities, which includes coordinating the work of subcontractors and trade labor, ensuring safety, schedule delivery, cleanliness, quality of work performed and meeting project goals to achieve timely and profitable completion of each project.

Ideal candidates will have restaurant construction experience with an in-depth understanding of hood/make-up air systems, kitchen equipment layout, pitched floors, life safety, health and ADA requirements which are specific to restaurant builds. They must thrive in fast-paced environments and be able to deliver under a tightly compressed schedule with hard deadlines and high client expectations.

*** Important: This role demands a hands-on leader with the willingness to self-perform tasks when the job requires in order to accelerate project completion. We are not interested in a field general who simply delegates tasks that can be easily handled in-house.

Essential Duties

● Provides management of subcontractors and organization of the overall job and workflow.

● Develops work plans for subcontractors and self-performed work.

● Manages the work to ensure that it is completed in compliance with the approved contract documents.

● Coordinates and manages the care, custody and control of the project site.

● Attends, manages and participates in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings.

● Creates, manages, changes and implements the project’s schedule as needed, in conjunction with the Project Manager.

● Provides daily schedule updates and pivots due to unforeseen circumstances

● Communicates key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers and other departments.

● Evaluates progress on self-performed work and makes adjustments as needed.

● Manages material and equipment needs for the project.

● Supports the project closeout by supervising pre-punch activities and coordinating activities with the owner, architect and governing authorities.

● Partners with project management to identify schedule and costs associated with project changes.

● Establishes and maintains relationships with county and city government officials, owners, architects, contractors and vendors.

● Maintains the safety of the job site by monitoring and correcting the activities of sub-contractors and direct labor.

Qualifications and Experience

● High school diploma with a minimum of 8 years of relevant construction experience and 5 years of field supervision experience.

● Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.

● Knowledge of project processes and job sequencing.

● Current knowledge and ability to apply relevant local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA

● Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with management, owners, subcontractors and other outside entities.

● Advanced computer skills including experience using construction management software such as Procore, Buildertrend, etc.

● Professional attitude and appearance.

● Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.

● Experience in Restaurant build-out or commercial experience required

● Estimating knowledge is helpful, but not required.

Requirements

● Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.

● Must be able to push, pull and lift at least to 50 pounds.

● Must be willing to work an occasional weekend day to meet project needs (as necessary).

● Ability to pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Field Supervisory: 5 years (Required)
  • Restaurant Construction: 3 years (Required)
