Position Summary

The Director of Logistics will be responsible for leading the logistics of raw agricultural products, while partnering with farmers, internal clients, and processing plants. This role will be responsible for creating company best practices, while being hands-on in the logistics process.

You Will:

• Coordinate with the Benson Hill Operations team and farmers to coordinate freight and timelines of moving grain directly from farms to elevators and processing sites.
• Negotiate freight weights and terms
• Responsible for moving product (meal, oil, food grade, raw egg, soy flour, etc.) in and out from processor to warehouses and/or customers.
• Partner with farmer contracting and Benson Hill Seeds to coordinate box truck for palleted products
• Ability to work high-level, but also be hands-on in the logistics process
• Create and implement policies, best practices, and procedures regarding company logistics
• Create internal reports for management
• Future opportunity for direct reports.

You Have:

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Business, Agronomy, Crops & Soil Sciences or other related Agriculture field is preferred.

Experience

• Minimum 8-10 years’ experience with export logistics; specifically, container, vessel, rail, trucking, and barge of raw agricultural products highly preferred.
• Understanding of industry rules and regulations when it comes to logistics of raw agricultural products.

Software/Skillset

• Excellent organizational and time management skills
• Excellent intercompany communications skills (verbal, email, written)
• Intermediate skill level for Word, Excel, Power Point
