Job Description
Bentex is looking to hire a talented and highly motivated Controller. The successful candidate will be a hands-on, participatory manager who will play a critical role in leading the Finance and Accounting Teams, and will have a successful track record in setting priorities, as well as excellent analytic, organization, and communication skills.
As the Controller, you will be responsible for supervising the accounting department, which will include establishing and maintaining organizational structure and staffing, as well as selecting, training and mentoring of accounting staff, as needed. Other responsibilities include:
- Responsible for timely, accurate and efficient accounting close on a monthly basis.
- Manage accounting functions on a day-to-day basis including accounts payable, payroll, treasury management, and general ledger accounting.
- Enhance the accounting department's use of software and integrates software into accounting processes and procedures.
- Perform technical accounting issue research and resolution as necessary.
- Assists in the preparation and completion of the fiscal year budgeting process, evaluates business performance against budget, and develops forecasts/reforecasts to provide an accurate projection of financial performance.
- Manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
- Manage the preparation of the monthly management financial reporting package, including variance analysis.
- Manage the annual financial audit process performed by our independent CPA firm, as well as other audits conducted by licensors, lender, insurance vendors, etc.
- Seek opportunities to revise or create new policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting group.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another related financial field is required.
- Experience in the wholesale and / or consumer goods industry is preferable, but not required.
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles.
- Very good knowledge of accounting software required, Great Plains Dynamics preferable.
- Excellent organization, time-management, and communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
