JOB DESCRIPTION

 

JOB TITLE:                Assistant Cheerleading Coach (Hired through EduStaff)

LOCATION:               Benton Harbor High School and/or Fair Plain Middle School

SUPERVISOR:           Cheerleading Head Coach & Athletic Director

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

The BHAS athletic coaches promote teamwork, and sportsmanship through athletics The Assistant Cheer Coach provides assistance in the leadership and supervision of the team and works closely with the other coaching staff members and administration of the school.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma (College educations preferred)
  • Some knowledge of cheer or team sports
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate students to work as a team 
  • Able to coach in an Urban School District.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work in collaboration with the alignment of curriculum and instruction in the district.
  • Lead the coordination and planning of professional development for instructional staff.
  • Work as an Instructional  Coach for the teaching staff.
  • Assist with the facilitation of the School Improvement Plan.
  • Other duties as assigned, as outlined in the grant

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the head coach in all duties 
  • Encourage Multi-sport athletes
  • Provide training rules to all athletes. 
  • Understand and follow MHSAA policies, rules, and guidelines at all times.
  • Be a positive role model and mentor to student-athletes. 
  • Evaluate all coaches in the program
  • Attend all MHSAA, athletic department, and league meetings as needed 
  • Promote programs of teamwork and sportsmanship. 
  • Design training, practice, and team programs
  • Manage and submit all transportation trips for away events.
  • Assists with all out-of-season team workouts 
  • Ensure that all athletic activities conform to the BHAS Student Handbook and Athletic Handbook.  
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the athletic department, school district, and community. 
  • Work effectively with booster clubs and other community organizations, if applicable. 
  • React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned. 
  • Ensure that student-athletes adhere to training rules, grade policies, and rules of behavior
  • Ensure the continual supervision of student-athletes during games, in conditioning, and in the locker/shower room.
  • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques
  • Support the value of an education. 
  • Maintain and manage all athletic equipment for your sports including, purchasing, inventory, repair, and maintenance.  
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach

 

FUNDING SOURCE:

If this position is funded using Title dollars, federal regulations do not allow a promise of employment beyond the current year of allocated funds. If this position is funded using state program dollars, the district is not obligated to fund the position beyond the current year's allocation. This position, at any time, maybe dissolved based on funding availability and data collected from a comprehensive needs assessment.

 

Evaluation:

The performance of this job will be evaluated by the Head Cheerleading Coach.
