Minimum Qualifications Required:

Education required to ensure success in this position:
  • Bachelor’s Degree from Berea College with a graduation date in 2022 or spring 2023.

Experience required to ensure success in this position:
  • Experience in supporting, educating, training, and working with diverse audiences.

Special skills, knowledge and abilities:
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, creativity, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility to learn and execute varied tasks is essential.
  • Ability to use tools such as Photoshop, etc. to create flyers and promotional materials.
  • Ability to work with and supervise students.
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings as necessary.
  • A strong social media and/or digital media background is preferred.

License, certification, or registration necessary:
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Required background check

Physical requirements:
  • Must have excellent visual acuity to read computer screen data;
  • Must be physically able to sit for extended periods of time;
  • Must be able to withstand the pressures of meeting strict deadlines;
  • Must be capable of maintaining positive relationships with a diverse student, faculty and staff workforce.
  • Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.

Environmental conditions:
  • Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty

Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:
  • Standard office equipment: computer, fax, phone, etc.
  • Vehicle – college vans/cars

Summary:

Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Student Life and working within the Student Life Division, the Associate has responsibility for developing and maintaining a web and social media plan. In addition, this position will support departments in the division with various systems. The Web & Digital Media Associate will work within a highly collaborative and team-based division.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Research and develop a calendar and event process for campus wide student engagement opportunities.
2. Responsible for maintaining the Online Clearinghouse for student trauma and resiliency information.
3. Support the Student Life Division with the integration, maintenance, and continued improvement of department systems infrastructure (ie. B-link, Maxient, TurboVote, RMS Housing, Banner, etc.).
4. Serve as the main contact with campus partners and 3rd party software vendors for the Student Life Division.
5. Provide technical assistance to the Student Life Administrative Office in the on-going development of evaluation and assessment tools (ie. Taskstream).
6. Support in the maintenance and development of department websites and social media platforms across the Student Life Division.
7. Assist and support the Senior Administrator with billing processes through banner for room and board.
8. Supervise and/or assist in the supervision of student workers within the department. In support of Berea College’s great commitments this position requires student supervision. The fourth great commitment is to promote learning and serving in community through the student labor program, honoring the dignity and utility of all work, mental and manual, and taking pride in work well done. The Supervision would include scheduling, assigning and approving work performed. Developing students about common workplace acumen and giving them tangible work experience is an expected outcome. 9. Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and training of student workers.
10. Obtain, organize, and develop manuals, guides, etc. for campus partners (students, staff, & faculty).
11. Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Student Life.

Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.

BereaCorps positions are grant-funded, one-year contract positions from June 1, 2023 - May 31, 2024, with the possibility of a one year extension. The positions are only available to 2022 and May 2023 Berea graduates, that have
completed all of their coursework by May 2023.
