Job Purpose:  Originate and develop ideas to design the mechanical form of manufactured products. Consult with engineering to establish design concepts and evaluate design ideas, applications and characteristics. Integrate findings and concepts and work with drafters to prepare design ideas and details.

Essential Functions

  1. Create and revise drawings in SolidWorks from mark-ups, layouts or verbal instruction.
  2. Create models from concept, in a fashion to enable drafter to generate detail drawings.
  3. Ensure mechanical fit of all components in a given assembly.
  4. Create and maintain drawings and bill of materials for fabricated parts.
  5. Initiate and complete CO for release of drawings and BOMS to production.
  6. Create product specification sheets for purchased items.
  7. Collaborate with the product Engineering group for development of products, modifications to existing product, and tooling.
  8. Generate drawings for equipment assembly and customer support.
  9. Contribute to team effort by actively participating in team meetings.
  10. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

  1. An associate degree or equivalent 3D CAD Pro Certificate. A minimum of two (2) years designing, or other related experience generally required. 
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to co-workers, management, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  3. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, management, vendors, suppliers, and customers.
  4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as job orders, procedure manuals, and schematics.
  5. Ability to write routine reports and business correspondence.  
  6. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages. 
  7. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
  8. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  9. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  10.  Basic knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, power transmissions, electrical and electrical components of construction equipment is beneficial.
  11. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products, SolidWorks, and AUTOCAD.
  12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, bend, kneel, climb stairs and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.   The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.  The employee must seldom lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. If lifting over 50 pounds employees should utilize a jib, overhead crane, or ask for assistance from other team members. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  2. The work environment is usually an indoor setting with frequent exposure to outside elements. The noise level in the work environment is frequently high.  In addition, other elements that an employee could be exposed to occasionally in this work environment are but not limited to; dust, dirt, fumes and odors, mechanical and electrical hazards, fire hazards, and an elevated workplace. This position requires infrequent travel, which may involve exposure to extreme weather elements.
