Berklee Summer Programs is seeking a temporary part-time staff member to provide administrative and communications support for its international student population. This is an exciting opportunity to become familiar with the initial I-20 issuance process and basics of international student advising. Berklee regularly enrolls 500 international students in its summer programs each year, including 300 that require F-1 student advising. The Temporary Summer Programs International Advising Assistant will report to and receive guidance from the Senior Summer Programs Enrollment Manager and departmental Designated School Official (DSO) and is responsible for the following: Assist with answering basic immigration-related inquiries from prospective students through email, telephone, and occasional Zoom meetings Make prompt and effective contacts to assure that service level goals are met (e.g. response time) Maintain outreach correspondence with the existing Summer Program international student body to ensure visa requirements are appropriately followed Process student documentation for Form I-20 requests, complete initial review of the file, and send students’ digital Form I-20 once created by DSO Assume additional responsibilities as needed Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree preferred; Demonstrated interest in international higher education and/or international affairs, global studies, or a related field preferred Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to clearly and concisely explain policies and procedures by phone, virtually, and by email to students and families with varying levels of English proficiency. Customer service-oriented attitude. Ability to maintain professional composure and represent the department in a friendly, helpful manner, especially for sensitive cases that have been escalated from the customer service team. Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse global student population. Strong organizational, administrative, and analytical skills that require meticulous attention to detail. Comfortable using standard office hardware and software, e.g. Apple OSX, Google Suite (Google Docs, Sheets, Drive, etc.), Word, and Excel. Preferred Qualifications: Salesforce CRM experience. Familiarity with music or other performing arts. Knowledge of a language other than English.
