Responsibilities:
The Regional Vice President (RVP) will be accountable for developing and executing the business plan and strategies that enable long-term profitable growth within an assigned geography while also managing the resources and expenses necessary to achieve a profitable outcome. The RVP will collaborate with internal business partners to enable product, pricing, technology and services to enable this outcome.
- Leads change by communicating vision and gaining commitment of staff.
- Aligns business objectives to support company strategic goals. Develops and monitors the overall plans and objectives of the region. Tracks progress on established success metrics.
- Conducts file reviews and manage the risk selection process.
- Manages book of business and identifies market opportunities by analyzing competitor intelligence, market and industry research, loss ratios, mix of business, policy count, premium growth, hit ratios and business retention.
- Partners with Corporate Underwriting staff on product and pricing revisions to drive profitable growth. Collaborates with Underwriting Managers, Production Underwriters and Territory Sales Managers to identify, research, and develop sales opportunities.
- Strives to enhance relationships with existing agencies and accounts. Participates in establishing new customer relationships to promote sustained profit and growth of new business. Monitors and maintains service standards on an ongoing basis.
- Manages the agency appointment processes to ensure effective partnerships with quality agents. Guides and shapes underwriting quality assurance, price, rate and exposure monitoring, price adequacy and risk selection.
- Attracts, coaches, and develops talent to ensure a staff capable of carrying out business strategies while creating a dynamic talent pool.
- Participants in the company’s annual operating and long-term strategic planning process. Collaborates with the Senior Management Team to evaluate results, reestablish a future vision, and develop strategic plans, actions and success metrics.
- Drives expense control and efficiency throughout the regional operations.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of their team members.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and onboarding employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
- Five or more years of progressive work experience in underwriting and underwriting leadership, showing a clear track record of success.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful, financially measurable objectives and plans.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a dynamic, results-driven environment
- Multi-line commercial lines experience, including Workers Compensation is required. Experience in both a line and management environment.
- Strategic understanding of the changing business environment and how to adapt the company’s approach to achieve success
- A broad understanding of the competitive environment for commercial lines
- Strong Business and Financial Acumen
- Ability to drive data analytics and make appropriate correlations on results throughout the region
- Proven leadership skills including coaching and mentoring, recruiting and staffing, and professional education and development
- Strong communications skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrated experience in successfully managing external relationships
- Intellectual curiosity to delve into various business problems

- Licenses/Certifications/Designations: Valid driver’s license for travel (company car provided). Completion of or working toward CIC, AIM, CPCU or similar designation.
