Job Title: Manager of SEC External Reporting

Location: Evansville, Indiana, USA

Salary Range: $100,000 – $130,000

Position Overview: As the Manager of External Reporting at Berry Global Inc., you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company's external financial reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulatory bodies. Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across finance, legal, and operational departments to prepare and file SEC reports, maintain internal controls, and provide technical accounting guidance.

 

 

  • SEC Filings Preparation: Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K, ensuring compliance with SEC regulations, US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and company policies.
  • Financial Statements & Disclosures: Prepare and analyze financial statements, footnotes, and supporting schedules for inclusion in SEC filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and consistency with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • XBRL Tagging: Oversee the XBRL tagging process for SEC filings, ensuring proper mapping of financial data to XBRL taxonomies and compliance with SEC XBRL requirements.
  • Internal Controls & SOX Compliance: Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting related to SEC filings, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements and facilitating audits by external auditors.
  • Technical Accounting Research: Stay abreast of emerging accounting standards and regulatory developments issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), SEC, and other standard-setting bodies, and assess their impact on the company's financial reporting.
  • Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits, providing requested documentation, supporting schedules, and addressing audit inquiries and recommendations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the external reporting process, leveraging technology solutions and best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in external financial reporting, preferably with SEC reporting experience at a public company or with a public accounting firm serving SEC clients.
    • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards and regulatory guidance.
    • Experience with financial reporting software/tools preferred.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy, integrity, and compliance in financial reporting.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively and adapt to changing business requirements and regulatory environments.
