Responsibilities

 

 

  • Summary:
    • Purpose: Position works closely with the maintenance department to develop and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules with both  internal and consultant-led projects. Position serves as a point person among internal and external stakeholders, as well as consultant teams, to ensure efficient coordination of projects.  Position is considered the subject matter expert of maintenance planning and inventory practices using a CMMS systems    

     

     

    II)              Responsibilities/Principal Duties:

    • Ensure compliance to all safety policies and procedures.  Establish, support and maintain a “safety first” culture. 
    • Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
    • Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventative actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
    • Communicates with internal and external stakeholders the requirements of the preventive maintenance task.
    • Estimates labor hours, tools, and resources needed to effectively complete work orders.
    • Prepares preventative maintenance plans and schedules that meet the organization’s maintenance goals.
    • Monitors and adjust schedules to account for unexpected emergency work.
    • Acts as the primary liaison between maintenance and operations for preventative maintenance requirements.
    • Demonstrates effective time management and organizational skills and successfully manages time-sensitive situations with competing priorities.
    • Leads communication between maintenance and other internal beneficiaries of maintenance work to ensure that all stakeholders receives timely, efficient, and quality service.
    • Coordinate planned downtimes to reduce mean time between failures and minimize interference with production schedules.
    • Minimize the number of interruptions once work begins.
    • Establish job goals for the maintenance workforce.
    • Provide immediate insights into potential labor shortages (or excesses).
    • Assists with keeping an optimal stock of spare parts and materials.
    • Prepare and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance checklists and other standardized procedures.
    • Create maintenance schedules and generate work orders
    • Maintain parts inventory
    • Create procedural manuals that explain how to accomplish assigned tasks
    • Assist and support maintenance manager as needed
    • Maintains records and files essential to maintenance management
    • Coordinate with maintenance staff, contractors, and external vendors as needed

    Qualifications

    I)               Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

     

    • Two year Vocational/Technical school degree in Industrial Maintenance or equivalent experience
    • 5  years of experience in Industrial Maintenance
    • computer literate.
    • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and able to create and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
    • Strong writing, organizing, and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
    • Computer and internet competence. Knowledge of Windows platform. The following software skills are needed: MS Office.

    • Education/Experience: five or more years of related experience required. Formalized training in related areas i.e. welding, mechanics, rigging is highly desired.

    • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, use hands & fingers to handle or feel objects, pushing/pulling, tools or controls; reach with arms and hands; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel or crawl.  Ability to work at heights greater than six feet off of the ground.

    ·       Ability to work at heights and stand/walking/climbing stairs.

    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, the ability to focus, peripheral vision and depth perception.

               

    II)              Equipment:

    Must be familiar with the operation of applicable mechanical and electrical hand tools, electrical test equipment, alignment tools, etc. Operation of powered equipment i.e. forklifts, scissor lifts and boom lifts. Must also be familiar with office equipment to include computers, copiers and fax machine.

    While performing the duties of the job the employee regularly works near moving machinery.  The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with frequent excursions into high noise areas.
