Responsibilities
- Reports to the Production Manager.
- Oversee the compliance of all Company policies and procedures as it relates to the position of Supervisor.
- Manage the resources of the shift to ensure all goals are achieved, including but not limited to safety, quality, production and cost.
- Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations.
- Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk.
- Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, procedures, and applicable laws
- Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health or safety risks.
- Lead all required meetings with safety (i.e. Pre-shift, Department, Change Management, General communication, Town Hall, etc.)
- Promote a Safe and Productive “TEAM” work environment
- Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible.
- Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals.
- Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed.
- Ensure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods and elimination of wasteful practices within the department
- Coordinate staffing requirements with the HR team to ensure completed production as scheduled.
- Communicate between shifts and departments to anticipate and prepare for any possible production concerns
- Effective and timely communications via email; monitor and maintain emails.
- Accurately record daily production in the computer and submit various reports to the Production Manager
- Maintain good employee relations by stimulating maximum efficiency and productivity of employees through good communication and regular performance reviews
- Provide training as appropriate (i.e. tool box meetings, safety, etc.)
- Develop back-up leadership to effectively run your shift during your absence and for a succession plan.
- Recommend the hiring and releasing of production personnel as required to maintain production schedules
- Keep accurate records including training, production and other related activities.
- Collect and summarize raw material usage and inventory, monitoring usage for maximum efficiency
- Must follow and comply with Safety Absolutes
- Must follow and comply with Quality Absolutes
- Must follow and comply with all ISO 9001, Food Safety, & SQF established requirements
- Must follow all regulatory laws and guidelines
BERRY GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Follow and enforce all Berry safety and environmental policies and procedures
- Follow OSHA rules and regulations
- Monitor quality of product; inspects bottles for defects, inspects boxes for damage and properly follows customer pack patterns
- Communicates and cooperates with other employees in a positive and constructive manner to achieve the Goals of the Department and the Plant
- Adhere to and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines; wear protective clothing as required, wear PPE as required, and practices good hygiene
- Willing and able to work overtime when needed
- Identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel
- Effectively respond in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident and direct the activities of others
- Follow all Department Procedures and Directives
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assign work and provide technical assistance to meet production schedule and inventory requirements
- Perform daily reviews/analysis to determine status against production goals
- Ability to lead teams and committees and special projects as required
- Daily reporting of downtime, efficiency and production scrap
- Minimize scrap and maximize efficiency on each shift
- Prepare for and monitor product changeovers, verify line clearances.
- Pack bottles to support packers at breaks/lunches
- Ensure completion of daily and weekly preventive maintenance on shift
- Responsible for identifying and reacting to various sounds and alarms
- Provide appropriate and timely feedback on performance
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED.
- Three years of experience as a production supervisor or two years as a Berry Production Team Leader.
- Minimum of 5 years' manufacturing experience required.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
- Must be able to monitor quality of machine output.
- Capable of lifting (up to 35 pounds).
- Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms.
- Must be able to follow all department procedures and directives.
- Must be able to perform all duties in a safe and effective manner.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Present a positive and professional attitude at all times.
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, written and leadership skills.
- Be punctual and maintain good attendance record.
- Uses good judgment.
- Is able to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Able to define problems and seek out appropriate help for resolution.
- Able to coordinate multiple tasks.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Associates Degree
- Experience with Injection Molding Equipment is highly preferred
- Computer skills in Word, Excel Power Point, Microsoft Outlook, and JDE
