Responsibilities
JOB SUMMARY:
Realize Company’s vision for quality at the site level and define/execute the plan for achieving the site’s quality objectives. This position has a broad scope of organizational involvement. This involvement includes customer requirements review, process capability analysis, quality systems development, and reporting. The QA Manager uses appropriate experience and/or technical training and knowledge to provide proactive basic statistical quality support in a customer focused, continuous quality improvement environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Follow and support all Company policies (Safety, ISO, QMS, GMP, and others as directed)
Responsible for the development and implementation of procedures to maintain and improve product quality. Provides team leadership for the functional area of responsibility with the Quality Department
Serves as the Management Representative for Quality in assuring compliance with ISO and other regulatory requirements
Performs as the alternate for the Plant Manager's ISO responsibilities during his/her absence
Responsible for overseeing and maintaining programs and procedures required for continued ISO 9001 certification
Develops product specifications within the capabilities of production equipment and customer requirements
Responsible for the maintenance of the company quality system with emphasis on corrective action, control of nonconforming product and inspection and test status
Devises and implements test methods that provide more consistent product quality
Tracks and controls customer return authorizations and customer complaints
Contacts customers on occasion to better understand and communicate quality issues and status
Provides customer support with respect to any technical specification or standards issues as appropriate
Assists operations personnel in the manufacture of division products by providing technical support in the areas of specification origination/review/revision, product/process validation support and basic problem solving
Lead regularly scheduled meetings with all departments to provide quality-related training, communicate updates on plant and department quality performance, and reinforce quality-related focus areas
Assume other duties as deemed necessary
Qualifications
BS in Engineering or Science preferred
ASQC-CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or certification from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience and or formal education in basic statistical quality control methods such as process capability analysis, quality systems, gage error of measurement analysis, process control charting, Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), fault tree analysis and hypothesis testing.
Current or ability to obtain HACCP Certification
Knowledge of Quality Planning, Quality Control, and Quality Improvement as these methods relate to a Total Quality Management System
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and processes; plastics highly preferred
Black Belt/Green Belt/Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a team environment
Computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation design
