Job Title: NP Oncology
Job Summary:
The NP Oncology is responsible for providing comprehensive care and treatment to patients diagnosed with cancer under the supervision of an oncologist. This position involves assessing patient health, conducting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, administering medications, and monitoring patient progress. The NP Oncology also serves as a vital link between patients, families, and the multidisciplinary oncology team, ensuring high-quality and evidence-based care throughout the cancer care continuum.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct initial patient assessments, including comprehensive health histories and physical examinations.
2. Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized treatment plans for cancer patients.
3. Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory work, radiology exams, and genetic testing, to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
4. Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other prescribed medications to patients, monitoring for any adverse reactions.
5. Conduct monitoring and surveillance of patients, including follow-up visits, to evaluate treatment effectiveness and manage potential complications.
6. Provide patient education regarding disease processes, treatment options, and side effect management.
7. Assist in coordinating patient care, including referrals to ancillary services, specialized clinics, and support groups.
8. Document all patient encounters, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
9. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and holistic cancer care.
10. Stay updated on the latest evidence-based practices, treatment modalities, and clinical advancements in the field of oncology.
11. Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, and educational activities to enhance knowledge and promote optimal patient care.
12. Foster a supportive and empathetic environment for patients and their families, addressing their physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs.
13. Adhere to ethical and legal standards of practice, maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring informed consent.

Qualifications and Skills:
1. Master's degree in Nursing with specialization in Oncology.
2. Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in the state.
3. Certification as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AONC) is preferred.
4. Previous experience working in oncology or related fields is highly desirable.
5. In-depth knowledge of cancer types, treatment modalities, and symptom management.
6. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
