Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg
Job Summary:
As a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical nursing, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality patient care and safety in a medical-surgical unit. Utilizing your dynamic clinical skills and knowledge, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, working in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to patients with diverse medical conditions. Your role will focus on promoting patient education, supporting their recovery, and assisting in their transition to home or other healthcare settings.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical conditions, taking into account physical, psychological, and social factors.
2. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for patients, ensuring they are tailored to meet their unique needs.
3. Administer medications, perform nursing procedures, and provide treatments as ordered by physicians.
4. Collaborate with healthcare teams to establish and maintain effective communication and coordination of patient care.
5. Monitor patients' vital signs, symptoms, laboratory reports, and other relevant data, promptly reporting any significant changes.
6. Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and healthy lifestyle choices.
7. Ensure proper documentation of patient care, including accurate charting and adherence to regulatory guidelines.
8. Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients through infection control practices and appropriate use of equipment.
9. Assist in the efficient admission, transfer, and discharge processes of patients, coordinating with other healthcare providers.
10. Stay updated on the latest medical advancements, evidence-based practices, and regulatory standards in medical-surgical nursing.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the respective state.
2. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
3. Proven experience working as a Registered Nurse in a medical-surgical unit, demonstrating clinical competence and critical thinking skills.
4. Excellent knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles, techniques, and protocols.
5. Ability to effectively assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with patients, families, and members of the healthcare team.
7. Proficient in accurately interpreting and following physicians' orders and prescribed treatments.
