Software Engineer - Flexible Rent

Members of Best Egg’s Engineering and Enterprise Architecture team partner with key stakeholders, including consumers, marketers, CX researchers, and problem advocates across the enterprise to optimize short- and long-term value streams. Encouraged by our healthy technology risk appetite we expedite feature development using techniques such as feature toggles and multi-variate testing with an aim to maximize learning opportunities and better meet consumer’s needs. We enjoy applying a wide range of tools and techniques to formulate solutions and innovations. The Job:  The Software Engineer – Flexible Rent is at the forefront of helping renters pay, stay, and thrive in their homes by offering a way for renters to break their rent payments up to meet their cash flow needs. In this role, you will use your skills in JavaScript (preferred) and SQL to find solutions to problems preventing us from paying people’s rent. You will use your engineering skills to both react to critical problems and to empower peers in other departments (Customer Support, Operations) to do the same. You will also use your knowledge of AWS to help improve and standardize our infrastructure architecture to ensure our Lambda/Step Function/Serverless approach stays top-notch and meets SOC2 standards.  

You: You lead by example and set the pace for the team by contributing high-quality code regularly while encouraging a fun working environment. You love great operations and understand they are created through clear processes, trust, and solid code. When faced with difficulty, you have a glass-half-full mindset and use it to find solutions. While creating APIs or writing service layers are enjoyable for what you are passionate about is cloud architecture design and you seek to be on an Infrastructure Platform team in your future. Willing and able to be on-call and work weekends when required.

• 3 years’ experience as a software engineer
• Comfortable in a non-strictly typed language such as JavaScript or Python.
• Command of Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and Test Automation constructs and procedures for single-page apps.
• Strong working knowledge of AWS products and a desire to learn more.
• 1 years’ experience with infrastructure as code. Serverless or CloudFormation a plus.
• Strong data querying skills and database comprehension.
