SCN BestCo Inc. is currently searching for a Senior Cost Accountant at our Mooresville, North Carolina facility
Position Summary: Responsible for reporting and analyzing manufacturing costs and variances versus the standard. This position plays a key role between finance and manufacturing, ensuring any issues are both reported and an action plan is created to remedy the problem. This position will be involved in a broad range of duties and areas including: manufacturing, finance, sales, budgeting, new product development, quality, capacity, etc.
Essential Duties
- Act as the liaison between finance and operations; included but not limited to:
- Responsible for assisting in the design and tracking of Key Performance Indicators for Operations departments. Including all required supporting schedules and reconciliations.
- Prepares required daily/weekly/monthly reporting requirements for direct labor.
- Reviewing inventory transactions and communicating on a timely basis to allow managers to make adjustments in a timely manner.
- Directs and coordinates information to determine cost of operations for conversion cost, waste, inventory, labor, and overhead cost centers.
- Work with production managers to help explain labor variances to determine causes and corrective actions
- Be the lead in the deep dive review of month-end close to analyze and identify root cause of variances in direct/indirect labor, price variance, material usage variances and overhead.
- Develop new product costing estimates for new and existing products.
- Serve as a lead in helping utilize SAP and PowerBI for analysis and reporting.
- Works with sales to ensure billing rates for new product billings accurately reflect project costs to ensure costs are recovered and billed appropriately.
- Assist in developing a process to track capital projects actuals vs. budgeted returns.
- Assists with annual cost roll; reviewing labor and overhead changes:
- Load, test, and analyze impact of standard cost roll on future year budget.
- Update standards for labor efficiencies and rates based on information from the operations audit as well as temporary rates and labor matrix.
- Test and review standard cost roll, research irregularities, make necessary changes and finalize results.
- Assist in the budgeting process, including but not limited to:
- Review of labor & overhead for existing and future product lines.
- Review of Overhead spending for actuals vs. future budget
- Capacity planning
- Capital Planning/Forecasting, including assisting with payback analysis of productivity projects
- Assist in other ad-hoc reporting requests as required by other reporting entities
- Act as the primary resource for manufacturing ad hoc reports, special projects including Continuous Improvement/Lean Guiding Coalition initiatives and for investigating inventory as well as manufacturing constraints.
- Assist in the management of projects related to budgeting, audit, capital requests, and plant initiatives.
- Work with the Inventory Control Coordinators to ensure cycle counts are completed and accurate at all facilities.
- Work with auditors on inventory inquiries.
- May perform other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
- Knowledge of cost accounting processes and principles for compliance to GAAP standards.
- Experience in standard cost principles for manufacturing organizations.
- Knowledge and experience with ERP Systems.
- Basic understanding of overhead budgets and standard cost budgeting, including understanding of absorption of overhead into inventory.
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced skills), Word, and PowerPoint.
- Skills and knowledge of software platforms, analytical abilities, communication skills, and project management skills.
- Must have ability to effectively interface with plant and corporate office personnel.
- Must be able to effectively work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.

Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Accounting/Cost Accounting from an accredited University and minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting.
- Knowledge of cost accounting principles
- Experience in a fully integrated ERP system (SAP, Dynamics, Oracle, or NetSuite, etc.)
- Advanced excel skills including pivot tables, graphs and formulas (sumif, vlookup, if, iferror, text, and/or, concatenate, etc.)
Preferred:
- PowerBi or other data analytic tool
- Experience with general ledger and fixed assets
- Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification
