About the Role
The Copy Editor will proofread, edit, and publish content for BetMGM websites and blog properties.

About the Role
The Copy Editor will proofread, edit, and publish content for BetMGM websites and blog properties.
Responsibilities
- Proofread, edit, and publish high-quality content on various topics according to a pre-agreed content schedule
- Creating your own ad-hoc schedule to copy edit breaking news topics and relevant, timely events by BetMGM staff
- Generating and sharing news/ad hoc content ideas
- Adept at supporting writers when breaking news and/or rush jobs need to be addressed urgently
- Copy editing to the BetMGM style guide (currently in progress)
- Ensure all content adheres to The Associated Press Stylebook
- Maintain a commercial spirit when copy editing blog content to ensure it contributes to business goals
- Look for potential partnership and collaboration opportunities with other publishers
- Continue looking for ways to drive backlinks to BetMGM from guest content opportunities and other (i.e., Sports Illustrated)
- Fact checking to ensure content is accurate and void of false statements and statistics
- Must have WordPress experience as you will be uploading, formatting, and publishing content
- Work and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external SEO agency
- Ability to multitask and juggle multiple projects simultaneously
- Flexibility is key when projects arrive in the pipeline that must be addressed instantly
- Work on ASANA (soon to be Workfront)
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of The Associated Press Stylebook
- WordPress knowledge
- Experience copy editing high-quality sports content
- Degree in journalism or another relevant field
- Extensive knowledge of all sports
- Experience working in sports publishing
- Social media experience a plus
- SEO knowledge a plus
