About the Role
Responsible to the VP of BI and Analytics, the Manager of Sportsbook Analytics is a leadership role within the BI and Analytics team. The role is accountable for managing the working relationships, needs and demands of the Director of Sports Trading, Sports Product Directors, and VP of BI and Analytics.
The role will have a team of 4-5 Analysts reporting to it and be responsible for delivering high quality analytics and models, presented professionally. In addition to answering business questions (using data and analytics) raised by your stakeholders you will be expected to be a Domain expert in the Sportsbook and proactively ideate and value new opportunities.
This role is part of a Larger BI and Analytics organization that supports the entire BetMGM business and you will be expected to collaborate with other Analytics Mangers and Snr Mangers in the team, supporting one another.
The roles and associated teams’ scope will cover the following areas:
- Sports Pricing Analytics
- Sport VIP Analytics
- Sports Product Analytics – including new betting markets and
- Sports Power BI Dashboards
Responsibilities
- Drive commercial value through insightful Data/Analysis
- Demonstrate a return on analytical investment.
- Carefully think though how to approach Problems and structure analysis appropriately.
- Management of relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring their expectations are considered and met. Clarifying Questions as needed.
- Use abstract thinking and problem-solving skills to identify business opportunities and pinpoint problems
- Answer business questions using data and analytic techniques, providing fact-based responses
- Data preparation, including definition, transformation, and structured data so that the data is ready for analysis
- Lead, scope and shape all analytical and BI projects to meet or exceed stakeholders’ expectations
- Define hypothesis/null hypotheses to be tested where appropriate
- Gain agreement and support for analytical approaches and solutions amongst business stakeholders
- shape the direction and alignment of Sportsbook analytics across the company
- Work effectively with business counterparts to conceive, specify, pilot, and implement analytical applications and tools.
- Report on historical facts to key stakeholders to allow them to assess key trends
- Create new measures and dimensions within the data as needed to solve the problem at hand
- Build working relationships with 3rd parties, such as Entain and MGMRI
- Carry out descriptive analysis to demonstrate full understanding of the problem area
- Transform business questions into an analytical plan, select the right analytical technique and tool to deliver an answer that satisfies the stakeholders involved
- Find and implement analytical approaches to decision making optimization
- Demonstrate the value of your analytical outputs in terms of decision-making improvement
- Educate business users and leaders on how to measure performance and interpret the data and insight in your expert domain
- Work with developers to operationalize and automate any accepted piece of analysis
- Drive analytical projects though to delivery and embed them within the organization
- Work with your business leaders and teams in the Product and Sports trading business to meet their analytical needs and support ad-hoc requests
- Look for ways of working with the rest of the BI team to fully automate where the same analysis needs to be repeated weekly or periodically
- Encourages communication and collaboration across the business, team, and stakeholders in order to build strong relationships and develop cross functional working
- A leader that mentors and develops the team by; providing development, coaching, objectives and goal setting, performance management and other people policies as required ensuring the team is motivated, productive, and fully compliant with all regulations and legislation
Qualifications
- 5 Years in an Analytical role
- BSc or MSc Degree in a Statistics, Math or Science based subject
- Proficient in the use of SQL; R or Python experience a plus
- Experience in reporting tools, Tableau / MicroStrategy / Power BI or similar
- Advanced use of Microsoft Office especially Excel and Powerpoint
- Ability to effectively articulate data insights
- A good knowledge of gaming and gaming products
- Interest in customer behavior and telling their story though the data
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to understand and query data
- Good problem-solving ability
- Able to multi-task and work on multiple projects at once
- Benevolent: keen to help Collages and Internal Clients
- Curious in nature

Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. The position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
