The Polartec Folder is to inspect and repair fabric in the most safe and efficient manner possible and to avoid distractions from and look for opportunities to improve upon this process.

Definitions: 1st Quality Fabric is considered “Fit for use” by the customer. It is made with as few defects as possible.

Expectations:

• Understand and comply with all company policies, standards, rules and regulations as documented in Employee Handbook and subsequent postings, notifications and training sessions.
• Maintain high level of housekeeping essential to the efficient processing of high quality knit fabrics.
• Meet budgeted machine efficiency in terms of yards, pounds or rolls as specified by management.
• Positive example to other employees.

Safety:

• Do not ever place hands in area of moving rollers or pinch points while inspecting.
• Safety glasses, offering full eye protection must be worn when using compressed air for cleaning.
• Air hoses must be returned to hangers, coiled on hanger or otherwise stationed so that there is no risk of trip hazard.
• Scissors, snips and clips must have sharp points rounded off.
• Any trip, slip and/or fall hazard must be eliminated immediately, even if the hazard exists in an area other than your immediate work area.
• All associates with hair below their shoulders will have their hair pulled back in a ponytail or encased in a hair net.
• Use safe lifting techniques. Do not lift more than 75 pounds without assistance.
• Get supervisor clearance before performing any operation that may result in injury. BE SAFE!!

Job Specific Responsibilities:

• Follow the instructions on the Polartec shop order as to quantity per tub.
• Different shop orders are not to be mixed in a tub without special approval.
• All rolls in a tub must be in sequence.
• Verify all information is correct before weighing at the BKI scales.
• Weigh and input all information for each roll in a shop order tub.
• Make sure each roll is entered and without mistakes.
• Under weight rolls must have a make-up ordered to complete roll weight.
• Fold fabric into the tub.
• Cut straight across start-up end hanging. Straight means follow row.
• Cut straight across doff end of roll in cradle.
• All rolls are to be inspected as they are folded.
• Continuous defects that run for more than 5 yards are to be cut out and the fabric seamed at that point.
• Sew straight across start end and doff end.
• Examine seams before folder to make sure it is straight.
• If not straight, cut seam and repeat.
• Write employee # at either side of seam with Dalo marker.
• If you don’t have 10 yards for a seam (lap) you must cut out and order make up if needed.
• Make-ups are to be ordered when the weight of a “cut out” is more than 5% of the standard roll weight. Operators will document their ID # approximately 6 inches from any SEO they approve after pulling on each side of the SEO to ensure it will not come apart.
• If everything is correct when you finish folding all rolls in the tub, print labels from Polartec system.
• In Beverly system, you scan the label. First scan the container #, second scan the shop order and then scan the weight. Then scan each ticket from the order. If all information is correct, press enter to send all information in Beverly system.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Physical abilities to stand, walk and kneel on concrete floors, climb ladders, move 75 pound rolls and reach above head.
• Must be able to tolerate exposure to lint, chemicals and heat in summer months.
• Minimum education requirements include being able to read and write in English to fill out tickets, read and understand instructions and explain problems. The job requires frequent communications with mechanics, lead and support personnel.
• Must comply with all safety, quality and production requirements and instructions.
• Ability to learn and analyze.
• Desire to contribute to the company’s continuous improvement process.

Salary : $29,800 - $37,800
