Job Posting for Registered Dietician/Nutritionist at Bexar County
Under general supervision, is responsible for coordinating programs that focus on weight loss and management that may help aid individuals with diabetes and/or high blood pressure to better manage these chronic diseases and delay the onset of related complications.
Identifies, recruits, schedules, and educates program participants about specified chronic diseases, disease management, and lifestyle modification to delay onset of related complications.
Uses approved curricula and identifies teaching strategies that promote healthy behaviors among program participants.
Creates effective learner-centered environments for adult and/or youth education programs.
Facilitates and collects pre- and post- program surveys to evaluate and interpret program efficacy.
Organizes community events that promote healthy behaviors.
Recruits and engages volunteers to strengthen programming efforts.
Coordinates with local health promotion agencies and organizations to expand the delivery of programs targeted towards diet-related chronic diseases.
Coordinates with County Extension Agent-Family and Community Health to establish program area committee, coalitions, and taskforces that support various health initiatives.
Provides subject matter expertise and technical assistance to agents, educators, regional program leaders, and volunteers in the area of diet-related chronic disease management within the designated region as requested.
Develops and follows detailed, annual program plans.
Completes required weekly, monthly, and annual program reports and summaries.
Participates in professional development training activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in applicable field, or closely related field and two (2) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credentials required.

Ability to analyze the conditions and needs of participants and make recommendations; ability to relate to target audience in order to convey key educational messages; ability to read, write, and speak the appropriate language of program participants and effectively facilitate educational sessions; ability to develop partnerships; ability to work effectively as a team member and individually; ability to respond positively to supervision; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with adults, youth, volunteers, co-workers, outside agencies and organizations.
Must have a valid driver's license and motor vehicle liability insurance, personal injury protection insurance and a personal vehicle.
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance.
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test.
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek.
