GENERAL SUMMARY
The Director, Sustainability - Beyond Green Travel works closely with the Vice President, Sustainability - Beyond Green Travel on strategic goals, client relationships and pitches, identifying new business opportunities, project management and deliverables.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
The Director, Sustainability - Beyond Green Travel works closely with, and is supervised by, the Vice President, Sustainability - Beyond Green Travel and interfaces with other associates to advance project success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in recruitment of new sustainability consulting business with hotel and destination clients; including through new client research and outreach both virtually and at events, BGT sustainability service presentations, identifying and drafting RFP responses, updating client development pipeline, etc.
- Co-drive scaling of BGT sustainability consulting services for hotels and destinations through internal training and knowledge sharing around BGT services to ensure integration into the larger PTG organization; liaise with the PTG development team and other departments to ensure alignment.
- Support the Beyond Green portfolio membership process by organizing onsite inspections with sustainability auditors and hotels (and conduct onsite inspections where needed), draft Beyond Green inspection summary reports, liaise with IQA on administrative tasks, and assist with updating BG sustainability criteria and standards as needed.
- Assist in the delivery of sustainability consulting services, including but not limited to conducting sustainable tourism audits and product assessments for hotels and destinations, drafting sustainability recommendation reports, drafting sustainability content, leading sustainability capacity building and training for clients, and other services included in BGT sustainability contracts.
- Assist in the development and execution of sustainability goals for Preferred Travel Group, including but not limited to supporting the development and implementation of a corporate climate action plan, co-advising global strategic sustainability partners, and identifying other opportunities to scale corporate impact across Nature, Culture & Community.
- Co-lead on special projects, including annual or bi-annual sustainable tourism impact reports, ESG client company reports, reviews of surveys and data, sustainable tourism-related research, drafting narrative sustainability content, etc.
- Represent Beyond Green Travel in external communications, committees, and at industry events.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of business and sustainability consulting; including in the travel and hospitality industry
- Deep understanding of sustainable tourism and experience developing impact-oriented sustainability initiatives for companies, hotels & destinations
- Strong professional writing and communication skills, including successful public speaking
- Demonstrated team skills in working collaboratively with others
- Extensive international travel experience and passion for travel; ability to travel internationally for work
