Summary: 

Assistant Store Directors are energetic, motivated, self-driven individuals who support the Store Director in maintenance and operation of the store in a safe, guest-focused, and profitable manner. Individuals will be responsible for providing outstanding guest service in a fast paced environment with superior leadership skills. This position also requires a great deal of detail work, precision, physical work, and energy. This position is responsible for maintaining open communication on the status of the department with the Store Directors, Clerks, and Supervisor. You will be expected to set and re-set priorities, distinguish between the urgent and the important, solve problems, hold and reconcile ideas and lead program development as well as advancement strategies from conception through cultivation to completion.

 

Job Type:  Salary position. Must be available weekdays and weekends, various shifts; usually 55 hours a week over 5½ days, but occasionally more to support business surges, vacations, etc. Must adjust the schedule to meet business demands.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures clerks exemplify superior guest service with a friendly, helpful, and courteous attitude, using product knowledge and information to answer all questions guests may have about products
  • Help supervise, develop, and manage store team members
  • Contributes to store sales and profitability by effectively managing labor expenses, accurate pricing, stock levels, inventory, and merchandizing
  • Order and maintaining proper inventory levels
  • Prepare, build, and directs workers preparing merchandise displays up to company standards
  • Always maintaining compliance with all Buy For Less policies and regulations pertaining to safety, sanitation, and merchandising
  • Stocks merchandise, cleans shelves, and cleans shelf tag molding as needed when stocking and rotating product
  • Effectively communicates and works in cooperation with the Store Director, Department Managers, and Team Members to maintain standards and exceed guest expectations
  • Maximizing sales through excellent guest service and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of procedures
  • Provides assistance to all department Team Members with daily responsibilities while leading by example to help ensure a safe, clean, and productive operation
  • Prepares schedules and delegates to Team Members
  • Safety awareness and ability to fill forms and reports as necessary
  • Reports to Store Director and is acting director in his/her absence
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Eighteen (18) years of age or older
  • Valid Oklahoma Liquor License prior to start date
  • Valid Food Handler’s License within 30 days of hire
  • Previous management experience required, preferred in a key leadership position
  • Operational experience as an Assistant Store Director, comparable industry, or merchandising experience is a plus
  • Working knowledge of all supermarket areas (produce, meat, deli, bakery, grocery, etc.) strongly desired
  • Mathematical skills to include ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide quickly
  • Must be able to work without supervision and be productive
  • Energetic, self-motivated, and detail oriented
  • Knowledge of inventory control preferable and experience in ordering and merchandising product is desired
  • Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with guests and team members
  • Thorough understanding of all safety requirements and company safety policies
  • Proven leadership ability to exercise sound judgment in interpreting, communicating, and applying policy.
  • Courage to make and implement hard decisions in a timely manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate trustworthiness and integrity in daily activities
  • Ability to work effectively with a broad diversity of individuals and backgrounds, and generational differences, all with the intent to support the core values of the BFL company.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, interpersonal, advocacy, and time management skills.
  • Display a willingness to become knowledgeable of the organizational structure, policies, procedures, and operations of BFL and be a contributing team member.
  • Excellent guests service skills. Must greet the guests and respond to their questions and requests in a courteous, fast, and helpful way
  • Strong interpersonal skills

JOB PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to operate a hand jack, power jack, and forklift
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs. frequently
  • Ability to bend, reach, kneel, carry and squat
  • Able to push and pull heavy loads
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Successfully pass a drug test
