Diesel Shop Manager

Bi State Truck Repair/Twin Lake Trucking is looking for a full time shop manager. We have a fleet of approximately 85 tractors and 150 trailers. Bi State Truck Repair/Twin Lake Trucking is a family owned and operated business for 50 years.

Shop Manager's Job Purpose:

Manages day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop. Maintains, repairs, and overhauls tractors, trailers and other company vehicles. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety tasks. Directs the work of others. Trains and motivates maintenance staff. Works without direct supervision with latitude for independent judgment.

Shop Manager's Major Responsibilities:
1) Supervises day-to-day shop staff
2)Schedules and administers fleet maintenance, assists in troubleshooting problems with equipment. Reviews repair orders.

3)Delegates responsibilities as appropriate and monitors performance;

4)Ensures DOT compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal and Company requirements

5)Works closely with business owner providing status of maintenance and budget requirements.

6)Completes special projects as assigned. Required to perform hands-on work activities.

7)Communicates availability of vehicles for service with dispatch and owners.

8)Handles disciplinary concerns and employee development with shop personnel

9)Keeps all inspections and repairs up to date.

10) Works closely with drivers and outside customers

11) Hires qualified diesel technicians.

12) Class A CDL preferred

13) Must have experience with engine repair for Cummins, ISX, ISM, DD15 and 60 Series Detroit.

14)Handle roadside breakdowns and service calls during and after hours

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

• East Saint Louis, IL 62203: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

• Diesel Management: 2 years (Preferred)
• Diesel Technician: 4 years (Preferred)
