About our company:
Summary:
The Junior Technical Writer will write, edit and publish software help files, product manuals and numerous customer-facing technical documents for Biamp’s networked digital AV products. This position will be responsible for maintaining, revising and archiving existing technical documents while ensuring proper procedures are adhered to. The Junior Technical Writer will conduct research on technical subjects and utilize tools required to create and maintain customer-facing documentation.
Essential Functions:
Learn and understand highly technical networked AV products and software.
Create, edit, publish and maintain customer-facing product technical documentation using various software platforms.
Ensure product support documentation is complete based on product release schedules.
Maintain, revise and archive existing customer-facing technical documents as needed while following established department procedures.
Secondary Functions:
Create and edit illustrations/photographs to support documentation as required.
Assist in developing best practices for documentation creation and maintenance.
Monitor industry trends in technical communications.
Other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in a relevant field; desire to pursue a career in technical writing/communications in a high-tech environment.
Up to 2 years of experience in technical writing and editing.
Experience in the professional audio/video industry, network/IT or other technology sector and/or relevant coursework a plus.
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign) highly desired
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and other basic Office applications.
Ability to extrapolate relevant information for end-users from engineering source documents, communication with subject matter experts and hands-on software/hardware use.
Ability to understand and adhere to established document control protocols, including cloud-based storage (SharePoint), SVN clients, etc.
Ability to learn features and functionality of technical products
Ability to quickly learn numerous software programs to create and edit customer-facing documentation, including but not limited to Robohelp, MS Office Suite, InDesign and numerous others.
Must be highly organized to meet deadlines while remaining flexible to continually changing priorities, work multiple projects simultaneously and deliver exceptional content under limited supervision.
