As a Controls Specialist, you will be responsible for maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting all production equipment and related control systems. You will apply basic knowledge and understanding of programming and troubleshooting plant controls processes and the equipment used to control those processes. You will also update or modify electrical control schematics and build and wire control panels to industry standards.
In this role you will:
- Work cross-functionally taking on varying assignments including supporting operations and maintenance by troubleshooting utilizing PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and electric test equipment
- Replace failed Electrical components and download parameters as needed
- Upload from a PLC and HMI (human machine interface) and use to troubleshoot
- Execute PLC code changes under the guidance from technical manager
- Utilize Asset Center/RS Linx knowledge
- Participate in the development of ideas and concepts
- Support cross-functional teams in the building or improving of capital assets and serves an active participant when needed
- Solve technical problems & issues
- Identify improvements or modification opportunities
- Communicate status of active work
- Ensure GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), safety and quality for all proposed modifications
What you’ll bring to BIC:
- 5 years demonstrated experience in fast-paced environment performing maintenance and repairs of automated manufacturing equipment, with an emphasis on electrical and control systems
- Ability to configure and program PLC systems
- Proficiency with repair tools and techniques
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak with all levels of employees, guests, vendors, and team members
- Great time management, organization, and prioritization abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and efficient problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time.
- Computer literacy in office documents and spreadsheets
Beneficial, if you have this additionally:
- Experience and formal training working with AutoCAD software
- 2-year degree in electrical, electronics, or electromechanical fields
- Allen-Bradley PLC advance programming/troubleshooting experience
