Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota (hereinafter BBBS) Development Director will serve as a key part of the Program Support Team, leading fund development. Areas of major responsibility include: 1) Lead strategist for fund development, helping the Executive Director and Support Team create annual plans to increase voluntary revenue which informs and supports the agency’s plans for sustainability and growth.2) Coordinate efforts for the fund development team and serves as primary staff support (in fundraising matters) for the Executive Director and the Board. 3) Function as the agency’s principal major gift fundraiser, including leading Planned Giving efforts. Dollar amounts to be raised are determined annually.

Individual Giving: identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, closing and stewarding prospects from all sources capable of giving major gifts ($1000 ), smaller annual gifts (up to $1000 annually), and reoccurring monthly gifts ($10/month ).

Event Giving: identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, closing and stewarding corporate sponsor and event participants in line with agency annual revenue goals. Events include but are not limited to: Evening for Kids’ Sake and Bowl for Kids’ Sake

Donor Management: supports agency event sponsors, event participants, monthly givers, individual and corporate donors. The Development Director coordinates the agency’s donor stewardship program, gift data entry and acknowledgement; database management; and donor research.

Deliverables:

· Meet annual goal for Evening for Kids’ Sake. Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to secure the right attendees and auction items for the event to meet goal. Coordinate all facility and event logistics.

· Meet annual goal for Bowl for Kids’ Sake. Retain minimum of 75% of annual corporate sponsors and teams. Identify and secure teams and corporate sponsors to meet goals. Coordinate facility and event logistics, to meet revenue goals and deliver a successful event.

· Annual donors: Set and meet monthly goals for new, renewed, and upgraded annual donors.

· Board Engagement: Assist Executive Director in engaging board annual gifts and fundraising participation to ensure 100% board giving.

· Meet goals for miscellaneous events and other fundraising needs and opportunities: Oversee screening for ROI of new funding opportunities, assuming or assigning duties as appropriate.

Responsibilities:

· Develop/update an annual fund development plan: a written plan for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual, foundation and corporate potential donors for all events and fund-raising activities.

· Major gifts: Coordinate the Executive Director and Board’s major gift work with top prospects.

· Personal portfolio: Personally, managing a portfolio of prospective donors, to meet annual revenue goals.

o 10 - 15 visits per month.

o Written strategies based on capacity and readiness to give.

o Develop plan for assigned prospects to be solicited for their annual fund gift.

o Solicit and close 3-5 major gifts ($10K ) annually.

· Supervising donor stewardship, information systems (gift entry; database management; report generation), and prospect research.

· Managing grants calendar of current grants.Seeking new grant opportunities, applying for grants.

· Managing planned giving program.

· Serving as a vital member of the leadership team by staying abreast of organization-wide issues and contributing to the development and achievement of the agency’s long-term vision and short-term operating plans.

Experience, education, degrees, and licenses

· Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

· 5 years donor relations experience, with a proven track record of donor acquisitions, fund raising, goal achievement.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $67,000.00 per year
