Big-D Construction is seeking applicants for the position of Laborer for our project located in Salt Lake City, Utah
An ideal candidate for this position will possess 1-year of construction experience and an understanding of safety and general constructability knowledge. This position will provide laborer and cleaning services for our field offices and must demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks, maintain professionalism, and use critical thinking to solve issues on their own. The person will be maintaining multiple construction field offices and will need to drive a company vehicle from one area of the project site, to another in a safe manner. A valid driver license is required and must pass a driving background test.
Substance Abuse Testing and Background Screening is a condition of employment, as well as a TSA Background check for badging purposes.
Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)
- Clean and supply designated office areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, refrigerator/restroom cleaning, etc.).
- Cleaning windows/doors, pressure washing trailers, Shower Trailer, Parking Lot clean up, clean gutters
- Monitor the safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas
- Stocking office supplies
- Reconfigure office cubicles
- Change light bulbs in jobsite trailers
- Fix Office chairs, as needed
- Inspect the jobsite trailers for any Maintenace issues and report it to the Project Director
- Self-performing some maintenance and repairs, as needed
- Assist with snow removal during winter months
- Assist with onsite project cookouts
- Must be able to pass a TSA background check
- Must have a driver's license and pass a Motor Vehicle Report
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Basic OSHA and similar training is necessary; training will be provided.
- Ability to follow verbal directions, implement changes, and monitor material and equipment usage.
- Ability to identify proper tools for specific functions.
- Ability to listen and follow directions.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to adhere to strict quality control measures.
- Ability to read and understand safety signs, instructions for tools and equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Use fingers, hands & arms to reach, handle and manipulate objects, climb up/down ladders, scaffolds, and other objects, work on uneven surfaces/heights.
- Be able to read/write and have the ability to see & hear well either naturally or with correction.
- Must be able to lift and carry materials of all shapes and sizes weighing 50-100 lbs. 75% of the time.
