Big Dog Ranch Rescue is the largest, cage-free dog rescue in the US. We are sustained entirely by private donations and grants. The Development Assistant supports the efforts of the Philanthropy Department in all aspects of donor support and communication and is responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the donor database.

Position Description

The Development Assistant is an integral member of The Big Dog Ranch Rescue Foundation team. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Assistant serves as the backbone of the operation by overseeing all administrative processes in place to manage the donor relationships. Additionally, the Development Assistant coordinates the administrative aspects of events and programs and assists the Executive Director with scheduling. He or she must be extremely detail-oriented and work to ensure delivery of impeccable donor services.

Necessary Skills

· Accountable and dependable and willing to converse with high-level donors and visitors at the Ranch at a moment’s notice

· MUST be able to take initiative and handle multiple projects at once

· Highly organized and creative

· Team player and open to collaboration with all departments

· Excellent letter writing skills

· Proficiency with Blackbaud, Raisers Edge donor database

· Technical proficiency and accuracy of data entry

· Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint

· Non-profit experience a plus

Duties Include

Achieve proficiency in Blackbaud Raisers Edge, the donor relations database. Requirements include data entry, database management, daily processing of donations, proper coding of gifts, and generating acknowledgements.

Work closely with Finance Department to ensure accuracy and reconciliation of gift management.

Database reporting and queries as requested.

Maintenance of major fundraising event mailing lists, registration and seating.

Assist with inquiries from existing or prospective donors.

Compile and create folders and marketing materials for Development prospect and donor meetings.

Fundraising Event Assistance and tracking of fundraising donations – Assistance before and at events for silent auction, etc. During event season nights and weekends are required as needed.

Coordinate, attend and draft minutes and other documents for Development Committee meetings.

Coordination of Donor correspondence such as tax receipts, letters, thank you, birthday, condolence, honor/memorial letters and cards.

Write, proofread, edit and send correspondence, including but not limited to: Pledge Agreements, donor letters, and gift proposals.

Identifying and researching existing and potential donors for targeted fundraising and cultivation.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
