Fall 2024 MUSIC PUBLICITY INTERN - BIG HASSLE MEDIA
Founded in 1999, Big Hassle Media is an indie music publicity firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville. Big Hassle represents Jack White, Kesha, The Lumineers, Cat Power, Alt-J, Kate Hudson, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, and more.
Music publicity interns are an integral part of the Big Hassle team, supporting the publicists on various campaigns to obtain media coverage for clients. This internship offers valuable experience in all aspects of publicity and exposure to other parts of the music industry. In addition to regularly assigned tasks, the internship is an opportunity to ask questions and utilize the resources surrounding you to learn about the business. This field is fast and creative, and with that, there is much room to excel. We make it a point to toss our interns the rope for a real hands-on experience.
College credit is available for this internship, but not required. This is an unpaid internship. A minimum of two days a week is preferred. Our fall internship program runs from the end of August 2024 to mid December 2024. We go into our NYC Union Square office space 3 days a week, but we are completely flexible when it comes to remote work! Applicants outside of NYC and living in NYC will be considered.
Publicity Intern responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Updating contact databases
• Researching media outlets
• Industry news reports
• Press clippings
• Compiling press reports
• Writing press releases and pitches
Candidates should:
• Be passionate about music
• Be creative, and actively contribute new, interesting ideas for promotions, campaigns, and ways to push forward
• Have a strong overall knowledge of the music industry
• Have excellent communication (written and oral) and organization skills
• Have knowledge of industry blogs, outlets, podcasts, etc
• Be a motivated self-starter
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Be meticulous and tenacious about delivering the right results
• Be familiar with Google Drive
