What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Technician position at Big Rocks Engineering?
The Engineering Technician’s primary duties are drafting all production parts manufactured utilizing the CAD/CAM software system. The following list of duties are an integral part of the Engineering Technician job duties but is not an all-inclusive list. We are willing to train the candidate with the right attitude and aptitude in areas that may be missing or lacking to ensure growth of the right candidate as we grow. The Engineering Technician’s position can be altered or expanded by management to meet the needs and demands when necessary.
Essential Functions
- Prepare estimates and quotes for customers based on detailed drawings and specifications.
- CAD/CAM programming/drafting of all new Customer parts for Production, including updating new revisions as receiving from Customers.
- First Article inspection and technical support to Production.
- CNC Mill and Lathe operation and technical support.
- Technical Support to Production.
- Quality Support to Quality Supervisor and Production including, but not limited to:
- Inspection of First Article parts
- Inspecting parts during production
- Adherence to the policies and procedures of the ISO-9001 guidelines through the use of the Quality Manual and the Quality Management Software.
- Operate production equipment when appropriately needed and as trained
- Fixture and Tool Design as trained
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required:
- Microsoft Windows
- Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Windows and Excel)
- Mazatrol CNC Programming software a plus, but not required.
- CMM measuring software a plus, but not required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, revision, etc.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Education and/or other Requirements
- CAD/CAM – Drafting Experience required.
- Experience in computers.
- Knowledge and experience in measuring devices.
- Legible handwriting
Environmental Factors
- While performing duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and hazardous chemicals.
- Regularly works near moving mechanical equipment.
- Employee may work in confined spaces.

Pay: $17.00 - $23.00 per hour
