Job Overview

The Garden Center Support position is divided into three equally important functions:

Receiving and Maintenance: This position is actively involved in day-to-day rotation, receiving and stocking of garden center merchandise, as well as the overall organization and cleanliness of the garden center. Candidates for full-time positions must be forklift trained and proficient with power tools.

Watering Team: Candidates selected to the watering team are responsible for watering of all plants in the garden center. Those selected as waterers must display an aptitude toward proper watering techniques and the ability to follow specific instructions.

Customer Service and Maintenance: Loading customer vehicles, sweeping, collecting carts and emptying trash are core functions of this position. This position is also involved in receiving and tagging of merchandise.

This position reports directly to the Garden Center Location Manager and Garden Center Supervisor.

• Able to follow specific instructions and work direction.
• Able to communicate respectfully with coworkers and customers.
• Self-Starter, who can work independently if needed.
• Skill in establishing priorities and managing both workload and time wisely.
• Willingness to learn and perform duties beyond the scope of this job description,
• Perform various duties as assigned by the Manager and Supervisor.

• Assist customers in loading and unloading merchandise and bagged product into their vehicles.
• Receive and price product.
• Clean, stock and maintain garden center grounds.
• Operate standard tools and landscape equipment; e.g. shovel, screwdriver, hammer and drill.
• Assemble patio furniture and display fixtures.
• Ensure proper merchandising and adherence to merchandise display standards.
• Watering Team: Water indoor and outdoor plants.

Physical Activities:

• Ability to work on feet (for long periods of time) outside, and in various elements.
• Able to frequently push or pull moderately heavy objects (minimum lifting requirement is 50 lbs.).

• Potential exposure to slippery surfaces and allergy irritants.
