What are the responsibilities and job description for the Solutions Architect position at Bigbear.ai?
BigBear.ai is seeking a Solutions Architect to create the solution architecture for complex system requirements, ensuring that all architectural aspects of the system meet the business and technical requirements while aligning with the strategic vision of the organization.
This position has remote flexibility for candidates willing to come onsite to Chantilly, VA 1x per week and as needed by the team lead.
What you will do
Solution Design and Development:
- Develop comprehensive solution architectures, designs, and specifications that address the business needs and objectives of the organization.
- Ensure the technical integrity and quality of the solutions, focusing on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Strategic Planning:
- Work with executive and senior leadership to define the architectural vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and business analysts, to define and refine requirements and to develop solutions.
Technology Evaluation and Selection:
- Evaluate and recommend technologies, tools, and platforms that can effectively meet the organization’s objectives.
- Conduct research on emerging technologies and trends that could impact the company’s strategic goals.
Standards and Best Practices:
- Define and promote architectural standards, best practices, and design principles, ensuring adherence across the development teams.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to architectural artifacts, design decisions, and guidelines.
Risk Management:
- Identify and assess technical risks and issues related to the proposed solutions and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements.
Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to other architects and development team members.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the organization.
What you need to have
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 10 to 12 years of experience; or
- Master's Degree and 8 to 10 years of experience; or
- PhD and 5 to 7 years of experience
- (in lieu of Bachelor’s degree, 6 additional years of relevant experience)
- Clearance: able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
- Strong technical background with a broad knowledge of software development technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and best practices.
- Ability to balance short-term goals and long-term vision when developing solutions.
