BigBear.aiis seeking aSenior Accountantto support our accounting team. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in our month end close process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in accounting, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
This position will be based out of Columbia, MD and can be performed fully remote.
What you will do
- Prepare month end close journal entries including cash, prepaids, fixed assets, payroll, accounts receivable, leases and deferred revenue
- Perform monthly and quarterly account reconciliations in FloQast
- Assist with external auditor requests as needed
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and the company's policies and procedures.
What you need to have
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- Proven experience as a Senior Accountant or similar role, with at least 2-5 years of experience in accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience in applying accounting principles in practical scenarios.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis and data manipulation.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving financial issues.
What we'd like you to have
- Prior experience in government contracting is a plus but not required
- CPA designation is a plus
- Experience with Unanet a plus
