Hours per Pay Period: 1.00 = 80 hours (Exempt)
Starting Wage DOE: $36,150 - $76,273


Depending on experience, applicants may qualify for Levels I-IV of IT Analyst position.


Under general supervision, provides information technology planning and configuration support for assigned focus area(s) and to all users that are the responsibility of Billings Clinic Information Services. Focus areas typically include Helpdesk and PC analytics.

Essential Job Functions


Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.

Practitioner

Designs, implements and evaluates Information Services functions to cost effectively improve organizational outcomes throughout Billings Clinic
Serves as technical resources in a focus area
Provides support during technical crises
Acts as role model of professional Information Services practices
Promotes Information Services across the organization, utilizing technical knowledge, theory and technical skills to promote optimal outcomes through best practice
Promotes excellent project management through the use of industry accepted project management methodologies
Participates in professional and technical organizations to improve technology and improve healthcare through technology, and to advance the IT profession

Consultant/Collaborator

Develops standards of Information Services practice in a focus area
Serves as technical resource for customers, staff, physicians and administration
Collaborates with multiple disciplines to organize and coordinate technology enhancements to improve Information
Services outcomes
Serves as a technical resource for system-wide teams/tasks forces
Participates in technical program development
Identifies facilitators and/or barriers to qualify Information Services practice and develops/implements action plans
Is a contributor in the development of policies and procedures


Researcher


Identifies technical problems/issues needing research
Uses appropriate research-based tools, techniques, and methodologies to conduct research and ensure best practice
Communicates results of research to appropriate individuals/groups
Analyzes data to identify trends that impact Information Services outcomes and cost containment
Utilizes research to develop technical competencies and other standards/guidelines for Information Services


Educator


Provides staff/customer education
Reviews staff education materials
Serves as a mentor to all staff in a focus area
Assists in the development and provision of continuing education programs for the technical staff


Project Management


Coordinates the development and implementation of project management plans assigned by a leadership team member
Provides regular communication to all members of the project team as well as all clients involved in the project
Trains or coordinates training for clients in the use of various IS tools
Assesses and analyzes functional requirements for new systems acquisitions and technical requirements in conformance with IS standards
Gather and analyze general information from vendors for the purpose of summarizing and comparing new product selections
Assist multidisciplinary teams in the selection and acquisition of new systems
Participate in client reference calls, client site visits and the evaluation process leading to final vendor selection
Makes recommendations and reports new product justifications to various committees
Establish a cooperative working relationship with vendor installation personnel and ensure expectations are understood
Participate in multidisciplinary project teams of IS team members, outside consultants, vendors and customers
Ensure all activities are completed on time and within budget
Identify and resolve any problems that affect the project schedule or the accuracy and stable functioning of the project team
Analyze customer needs, review current processes, and recommend options and approaches to implementation
Document test plans and training plans for upgrades and new product releases
Coordinate testing and training through appropriately developed plans
Develops and maintains required documentation
Assist customers in the translation of vendor technical documents
Maintain internal policy and procedures


Project Participation


Participates actively in all projects assigned
Provides regular communication to all members of the project team as well as all clients involved in the project
Conducts testing and training through appropriately developed plans
Maintains required documentation


Technology Management


Assists clients, at all levels of the organization, in implementation of system-minded solutions
Conducts ongoing monitoring of assigned technology to be sure of optimal usage of the application(s)
Recommends software and/or hardware upgrades and changes related to a technology enhancement or change
Aids vendor support representatives with logging and reviewing of all software improvements
Assists in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive business recovery plan
Demonstrates initiative in the management of technology


Customer Support


Coordinates with other Information Services team members in the resolution of communications, hardware and software problems in a timely manner
Works with customers in researching technology problems. Identifies and implements solutions for these problems in a timely manner
Reports critical problem situations promptly to the appropriate Information Services leadership team member
Aids vendor support representatives with logging and reviewing of all software problems
Provides on-call coverage as assigned by the Information Services leadership team
Provide consulting and support on the use of Billings Clinic selected and supported solutions
Align expectations with department leadership and staff on proper utilization of IS services and solutions
Develop and prepare scope documentation for user generated requests
Assist customers in reviewing and applying system enhancements, releases and upgrades from the vendor
Participates on task forces and committees as assigned
Develop departmental policies and procedures regarding services
Organize and facilitate user group meetings


Technical Responsibilities


Advocates for patient-focused, system-minded and knowledge-based solutions
Functions as a technical resource to others
Maintains technology that has been assigned by an Information Services leadership team member
Prepares all appropriate documentation, which adheres to all departmental standards
Installs, develops, tests and maintains technologies that have been assigned by an Information Services leadership team member
Assesses and minimizes the impact of interrelationships between proposed and existing technology
Prepares test scenarios and testing schedules with input from other Information Services team members and customers and analyzes results


General Duties


Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.
Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and seeks opportunities to contribute to Billings Clinic organization-wide learning initiatives.
Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.

Minimum Qualifications


Education


  • Associates degree from an approved institution in a related field preferred, or must be pursuing certification in or working towards a degree.

Experience


  • 0-9 years of information technology work experience

Certifications and Licenses


  • Current Montana drivers license and the ability to be insured to operate Billings Clinic vehicles

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered
