What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resort Shuttle Driver - Flex position at Biltmore Estate?
The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.50/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Flex: a position working between 20-29 hours per week (between 1000 - 1559 hours/year).
The Shuttle Driver - Resorts will provide world class guest service by offering gracious hospitality and information in connection with the estate transportation services. Duties will include, but are not limited to: operating transportation services to/from The Inn between Guest Cottages, Biltmore House, Antler Hill Village, Gardens and adjacent locations; answering questions regarding Asheville, Biltmore and Western NC; and other duties as assigned. Drivers will be running scheduled routes with a 15 passenger sprinter van and on demand guest transportation requests in various size vehicles accommodating 1-6 guests. In addition, the Shuttle Driver will offer general guest assistance and support for the Guest Services department as required.
Schedule may vary, but is generally 5 PM – 10 PM each weekend.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Provides world class guest service; professional; greets guests with warmth/enthusiasm; directs guests as appropriate; answers questions with skill and tact.
2. Uses two-way radio to communicate with other staff concisely and professionally.
3. Operates the shuttles/vans safely and according to standard procedures, posted signs and speed limits.
5. Assists guests in boarding department vehicles; uses the proper procedure when transporting wheelchair-bound guests; executes all safety procedures to Biltmore standards and policies.
6. Very knowledgeable about Asheville, Biltmore, as well as current information/events.
7. Executes emergency procedures during floods, snow and ice, emergency situations, etc.
8. Daily vehicle maintenance and service (fuel, etc.).
Additional Responsibilities:
1. Serves a member of the Guest Services team; may be assigned to other Guest Services posts as needed.
2. Maintains department equipment.
3. Knows specific procedures to follow when dealing with emergency vehicles.
4. Understands and follows all company and departmental policies and procedures.
5. May be involved with guest service recovery as needed.
6. Performs additional duties as requested by department leadership.
Qualifications:
1. High school diploma (or GED); First Aid, CPR, AED certification preferred.
2. At least one (1) year of related experience in a guest contact/service, education, or other similar field, preferably in an upscale hotel/resort/attraction environment and a valid NC Driver's License; two years of a clean driving record highly desirable.
3. Demonstrated commitment to delivery of world class internal/external guest service.
4. Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of Biltmore history, products and services, the Asheville area, and Western North Carolina.
5. Engages with guests in a sincere way and identify opportunities to share stories, suggestively sell/cross-promote as appropriate.
6. Proactive, comfortable taking initiative; ability to exercise good judgment, prioritize work, and adapt as needed.
7. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills; should be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively with different audiences.
8. Problem solves creatively; strong guest service recovery skills; professionally handles a variety of situations with guests, vendors, etc.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to sit, stand or walk in all types of weather for up to twelve (12) hours per day with fluctuations in temperature and conditions.
2. Ability to lift 30 to 50 pounds occasionally.
3. Must have or be able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within first 30 days of employment.
