Bio Town Biogas Process Engineer Job Description
Bio Town Biogas (BTB) is a waste-to-value company which utilizes waste organic products to produce renewable electricity and renewable natural gas. BTB is focused on producing low-cost energy in the form of renewable natural gas and renewable electricity while also reducing carbon emissions. BTB is a partnership between Bio Town Ag, an Indiana multi-generational family farm, and Green Rock Energy Partners, a New York sustainable energy-focused private equity firm.
The Process Engineer will be a hands-on engineer that will understand all steps in the operation in order to help implement new processes, create required documentations, and continuously improve areas of the business in order to help maximize our operations that will lead to better uptime, efficiency, and value creation. This role will require (i) the ability to operate with limited supervision and a strong sense of ownership, (ii) the desire to achieve BTBs long-term vision through proactively building all areas of the business and (iii) a strong attention to detail and solution focus.
The primary purpose of this role will be to maintain daily operations of the different revenue-producing value streams including electric power generation, renewable natural gas production and on-site solids separation as well as some offsite processes.
Responsibilities
- Operations Support
- Create and maintain documentation for steps in key processes (PFMEA, Standard Work, Reaction Plans, etc.)
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment and assist in performing repairs
- Learn maintenance systems to maintain parts inventory
- Analyze data and performance trends to identify correlations to reduced output
- Continuous Improvement
- Identify areas that can help impact equipment uptime and lead project to implement corrective action (i.e. new sensors, sensors not being used, automating a manual process)
- Improve process of CMMS work orders for better planning of equipment maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot SCADA alarms and investigate root causes to determine optimal solutions to mitigate issues and/or reduce occurrences
- Business / Personal Development
- Participate in the planning and implementation of business and product expansions
- Develop a broader engineering scope in terms of electrical and SCADA knowledge to grow capabilities beyond process focus
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required in engineering or engineering technician field
- 1-3 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfort building data trends and relationships to troubleshoot issues
- Individual will have a positive attitude, good work ethic, and can work well in a team setting or autonomously. Candidate must be self-motivated and performance driven.
- Good critical thinking skills for troubleshooting problems along with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and resourceful with excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to write effectively
