About This Role
The Editorial Content Lead in the US Organization is primarily responsible for producing content on behalf of the US Organization and its key executives. The Associate Director is key leader in the US corporate affairs team and will lead the production of multimedia content for a range of internal and external audiences and channels.
Success in this role requires storytelling and writing skills to creatively engage audiences while reinforcing business objectives. The Associate Director will be skilled at scenario planning, change management and working across a matrixed organization. This role will work closely with senior leaders, including the president of the US Organization.
Content production includes employee Town Halls, keynotes, social media content and campaigns, business updates and other materials to support our company culture, business or strategic objectives.
What You’ll Do
• Be highly creative in driving the development of communications (i.e. written materials, videos, imagery and other assets) for a range of distribution platforms including Town Halls, organization-wide emails, intranet, industry keynotes, and social media platforms
• Work closely with the Head of US Corporate Affairs to develop internal communications to the US organization while ensuring coordination with global corporate affairs colleagues
• Support corporate brand campaign by identifying and executing activations in the US Organization, in alignment with global corporate affairs CSR team
• Develop a deep understanding of the US business to ensure communications are aligned with the strategic direction of the organization
• Have an ongoing finger on the pulse of the organization and culture to identify opportunities to engage and educate employees based on business and leadership direction
• Support Corporate Affairs team with external thought-leadership strategy by overseeing or drafting articles, blog posts and social media copy for the US leadership team
• Draft speeches or written communication on behalf of the US President, with a focus on understanding her voice and communication style
• Ensure appropriate reviews of content and campaigns in collaboration with legal, regulatory and compliance colleagues
• Develop metrics for internal communication projects and measure success of campaigns and activities
• This role requires strong collaboration and networking across the US and global organizations while able to lead and work independently
Who You Are
The ideal candidate will have an interest in learning about the US business, its employees and patient stories to inform creative and compelling storytelling and manage an editorial content calendar. This role requires an individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and with senior leaders to generate high-quality content.
This individual will also be accountable for ensuring that the projects are delivered according to assigned scope, approved budget and target dates, with a steadfast commitment to quality of message. This role is supported by a project manager and copy writer.
Qualifications
• 8 years of journalism, content, internal communications or other storytelling experience in progressively senior roles in terms of responsibility
• Ideally, experience with writing on behalf of executives or other leaders
• Business acumen and executive presence to align content needs to the state of the business
• Understanding of distribution channels and best practices for engaging audiences (i.e. social media, email, intranet, etc.)
• Ideally, experience with social media strategies including content development
• Ability to focus on execution and follow-through with a sense of urgency
• Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders in a matrixed environment to develop strategies and tactics while ensuring excellence in implementation
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to quickly understand business context and company culture
• Demonstrated good judgment and ability to effectively prioritize workload
• Creative, innovative, agile and flexible
• Ability to work well under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced, often unpredictable environment
Education:
Bachelor’s degree is required, ideally in Communications, Marketing or Journalism or a degree in liberal arts
Preferred Skills:
• Some knowledge of healthcare or biotech
