About This Role
The Operations Associate l position provides daily husbandry and health observations to our rodent colony. In this role you will work closely with researchers and veterinary staff to advance neuroscienses while promoting animal welfare. You will be part of our essential personnel and will provide animal care during inclement weather. In this role you will report to the Vivarium Operations Sr Supervisor and become part of the In-Vivo Resource Center team.
What You’ll Do
· Perform husbandry duties for mice and rats
· Perform daily health observations and effectively record and communicate abnormalities to scientists
· Perform daily census and follow reporting procedures
· Perform animal receipt utilizing internal databases and housing of animals
· Perform general housekeeping and adhere to safety procedures
· Perform cagewash activities and maintaine inventory as needed
· Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required Skills
· High School Diploma or Equivalent with a minimum of 1 year Animal Husbandry Experience or Associates/Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science or related field is preferred
· Ability to interpret Medical Terminology
· Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
· ALAT certification required (or must be obtained within first 15 months of employment)
· Experience with Esirius is preferred
· Ability to stand for extended periods of time
· Ability to regularly lift/push or pull up to 50 pounds
This position requires a regular work schedule of 40 hours per week in addition to weekends and holidays on a rotating basis. This position is considered an Essential Personnel position required to report to work during inclement weather.
