Job Description
The Lab Support Lead supports the day-to-day laboratory operations at Biogen across all R&D laboratories. To ensure scientific focus and productivity of R&D scientists, the lab manager will serve as a point-of-contact person to support all lab operations, equipment acquisition and maintenance, space planning and renovation projects, safety compliance, and CapEx allocation and management. This is a highly collaborative and cross-functional role with success contingent upon developing and maintaining relationships across organizations to support R&D laboratory activities.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Lab Management Excellence
• Implement best practices around lab management within R&D spaces on the Cambridge Campus.
• Lead projects that improve, streamline, or benefit R&D labs, R&D lab management, or non-R&D lab support functions.
• Develop and foster healthy working relationships with non-R&D laboratory support functions.
• Oversee lab space organization and management
• Support general lab operations and lab equipment management in coordination with IT, Facilities, and our vendors
2. Manage and coordinate laboratory moves/relocations, co-manage laboratory renovation projects alongside GRE Project Manager or Facilities Lead.
3. Work closely with Business Operations to support the allocation of R&D Opex and CapEx funds, including the acquisitions and onboarding of equipment, lab related licenses and contracts, POs and invoices
4. Answer and solve issues, problems, or questions elevated to R&D Lab Management Team by R&D scientists.
Qualifications
· 5-7 Experience in a laboratory setting with a focus on laboratory process improvement, operational administration, and/or interdepartmental collaboration
· Extensive experience in a wide breadth of BSL2 level in-vitro/in-vivo practices
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office
