Biohabitats is seeking a junior or mid-level Ecologist to join our Western Team. The ideal candidate will have the training and experience in core disciplines relevant to the assessment and restoration of wetlands, riparian areas, grasslands, forests within the diverse western U.S. ecosystems and rural to urban settings. A successful candidate has experience in conservation planning and ecological design principles.

Role & Responsibilities
- Participating in all aspects of project delivery
- Site assessments and analysis
- Preparation of project reports
- Preparation of plan elements and project specifications
- Calculations, research, and coordination
- Construction inspection and oversight
- Facilitate meetings with stakeholders and clients
- Adherence to project schedule and budgets
- Review for quality assurance and control
- Ensure compliance with firm standards
- Coordination of contractors
Required Skills
- A love of wild nature and the outdoors with an eagerness to advance our mission and values
- Professional experience with vegetation surveys, plant identification, condition analysis, site assessments, and analysis
- Technical writing, including habitat assessment or biological studies/assessments or environmental impact reports
- Introduction to various plan types - conceptual through construction documents (restoration, revegetation, mitigation, green infrastructure)
- Wetland delineation
- Invasive species assessment and management planning
- Demonstrated academic and professional experience in western flora and fauna identification, ecological assessments, stormwater management, and desktop analysis (GIS) preferred
- Proficient in Adobe Suite; MS Office Suite; ArcGIS
Helpful Skills
- Experience in biomimicry, biophilia, and/or living building challenge approaches
- Experience with engagement and support of indigenous communities and environmental justice
Education & Certification
- B.S. in Biology, Ecology, Botany or equivalent
- Certification (or ability to obtain) as a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) and/or Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP)
Years of Experience
2-8 years of applied experience in ecological projects

$71,000 - $88,000
