We are looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as a Senior Accountant to execute a broad array of accounting activities (transactional and supervisory) for multiple divisions within the plastics group. Reporting to the Group Accounting Manager, this role will focus on completing the daily, monthly, and annual accounting transactions. These will primarily include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Banking/Cash Management transactions being recorded completely and accurately. Also, this position is responsible for reviewing the amounts recorded to ensure that they are accurate and can be efficiently and effectively substantiated by internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Accountant will also assist with new accounting standard implementations, build-out/execution of financial control processes, and implementation of a Business Services Center team to support the core responsibilities of the division.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide daily support, coaching, and problem-solving to a team of 1-2 indirect reports for our Brooklyn Park, MN office, primarily AR, AP, and Banking/Cash Management functions.
- Analyze revenue and expense transactions, recommend the treatment, and ensure the transaction/entry is recorded correctly.
- Analyze and identify the root cause of collection and payment issues and build a plan to create a sustainable process to remedy the issues.
- Review new customer contracts and assess performance obligations and other necessary terms to determine proper revenue recognition.
- Assisted with vendor setup and management processes and identified and executed enhancements as necessary.
- Ensure proper leveraging of the capabilities and capacity of a non-US-based shared services center.
- Assist in the company’s annual audit/review processes.
- Assist in preparing reporting and compliance with state and local tax requirements in each location.
- Assisted with plant-level and corporate-level special projects and implemented new accounting standards, financial controls, etc.
- Serve as another team's backup (e.g., AR, AP, Bank Management, and general accounting) when necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field (e.g., Finance).
- At least five years of experience in industry or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Strong attention to detail and superior organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to act independently and prioritize responsibilities and tasks.
- Ability to be agile in a fast-paced, changing accounting and reporting environment.
- Must be highly computer literate with data mining and ERP systems.
- Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of our Brooklyn Park, MN office.
Preferred
- Accounting/financial analysis experience within a manufacturing company, preferably in the medical device industry.
- Experience with NetSuite as an ERP.
- Experience with state and local tax requirements and reporting.
- Experience working with a non-US-based shared service center.
- CPA and/or CMA certification (active or inactive).
